Built to be carried while riding a bike!

I like my Chrome Industries bag so much that I bought another for my son. Because you asked for something "burly", I must tell you about the bag that I carry and have been very happy with, which is the Chrome Industries messenger bag. Chrome Industries backpacks and bags are hand-made, in the USA: http://www.motosport.com/motorcycle/chrome-gear-bags-and-backpacks
I prefer the messenger bag for riding my motorcycle because it's carried lower on my back and doesn't interfere with my turning my head for checking traffic and lane-changes.
Most of the Chrome Industries packs and bags are built with a double-layer design, with a durable Cordura outer shell and waterproof independently suspended, military-grade, 18-ounce truck-tarpaulin liner.
I've had my Citizen Messenger Bag for six years and it's still in great condition. It carries a 13" lap-top and a few motorcycle accessories such as rain-pants and extra-gloves: http://www.motosport.com/motorcycle/Chrome-Citizen-Buckle-Messenger-Bag
When my son started riding his motorcycle to college, he took my Citizen bag from me. He carries his lap-top and several text-books. Last Christmas, I gave my son the larger Metropolis bag: http://www.motosport.com/motorcycle/Chrome-Metropolis-Buckle-Messenger-Bag
While my son was borrowing my bag, it seems that he had laid it over the handlebar on his bike and allowed it to rest against the hot header-pipe. It melted a hole in the outer Cordura but it didn't damage the waterproof tarpaulin liner. I took my bag to the Chrome Industries Store and factory for repair. They provided me with a loaner bag while mine was in for repair. They had my repair completed in three days and it cost me only $20.00. The repair looks as good as new!

Fashionable!

It's a very trendy good looking bag. I bought it cause it looks awesome, but I find I don't use it much riding due to not being the most convenient thing to use on a motorbike. All weight on one shoulder is annoying especially if you got a 18pk of beer in it and it is sitting awkwardly on shoulder armor.

Casual use though it is amazing, 90% of the time people are asking about it. Super comfortable when you don't have shoulder armor in the way. Fits an amazing amount of stuff, I have yet to find its limits on what it can carry.

Best Purchase Ever

This bag is awesome. It has a ton of room. I usually keep it stocked with rain pants, rain jacket, helmet cleaner, microfiber rag, tire pressure checker, shoes, and still have room for extra items. I have never once had an issue with anything inside getting wet and i ride everyday rain/shine/snow/cold.
