4 40 Martin Davalos Cairo, GA Kawasaki KX250f 55.523 7
5 94 Ken Roczen Murrieta, CA KTM 250SX-F 55.657 5

Eli came out in the first practice pretty mellow checking out lines for a lap or two. He sorted out the track pretty quick and laid down the fastest lap in the second half of his practice. Zach Osborne #338 had his Honda pinned relatively early considering that track wasn't really worked in yet. It's amazing how fast these guys go out and dial in their laps. Ryan Sipes is right about where I'm expecting him this weekend as the season starts to settle in. Looked great in the first practice and I'm hoping that this will be the night we start to see results from the Rockstar Motosport.com rider. If I was Martin Davalos, I'd still be curled up on the floor with PTSD from last weekends get-off. I can only see him winning his heat and progressively getting faster as the night goes on. Kenny Roczen was looking good but a little conservative. He'll wick it up for the second practice, but not much to report here.

450SX Group A - Practice 1
Position Number Name City Bike Time In Lap
1 1 Ryan Villopoto Poulsbo, WA Kawasaki KX450F 53.984 7
2 7 James Stewart Haines City, FL Suzuki RM-Z450 54.586 8
3 5 Ryan Dungey Belle Plaine, MN KTM 450 SX-F 54.870 8
4 22 Chad Reed Dade City, FL Honda CRF450R 54.940 3
5 18 Davi Millsaps Murrieta, CA Suzuki RM-Z450 55.048 8

Certainly not surprised Ryan Villopoto is on top. He's made some obvious changes to his equipment and rolled into practice absolutely on fire. The track looks a little hard pack and slick in some spots and didn't see any sort of diving with the front end that was noticeable. Suspension changes during the week may have been what he needed. Probably the biggest surprise of early practice would be the fact that James Stewart is running second fastest. I know he can pick apart a supercross track faster than anyone, but I'm bothered by the whole knee situation. Sure doesn't seem to be in any sort of pain... KTM's Dungey is looking good and wasn't affected much by last weeks relatively odd crash. He's switched to the air shock evidently and looks like an improvement in confidence. Chad Reed is looking good. I'm hoping to see this time run into the second practice and catch fire. He's being incredibly consistant so far in a season that is looking like you may not need a 1st place to win the championship. Davi Millsaps is extremely impressive this season and has gained tons of fans. This is definitely a great time for him to prove that this is his year. Looks great on the Suzuki and should be an awesome evening. Props to the Rockstar Team!

#94 - Whoa, night and day difference from the first practice. Had a scary moment with a get off during the beginning of one his fast laps. Looks to be good to go for tonight.

#40 - I smell a heat race win potential from Mr. Davalos tonight like usual. He's loving this Pro Circuit machine and it shows.

#21 - Jason was a little under the radar during the first practice but was flying during the second. I hope he can hold on the the momentum into tonight and make up some points from missing the main last week.

#1 - Don't be fooled by Tomac with a 4th fastest. He knows he has it sorted and was pretty much just cruising, probably practicing his podium speech.

#35 - Sipes looked good and has the track dialed. During the first practice he ran over a tough block and fell, but looks like was nothing to be worried about. Hoping for a podium tonight!

450SX Group A- Practice 2
Position Number Name City Bike Time In Lap
1 1 Ryan Villopoto Poulsbo, WA Kawasaki KX450F 52.976 8
2 5 Ryan Dungey Belle Plaine, MN KTM 450 SX-F 53.653 8
3 7 James Stewart Haines City, FL Suzuki RM-Z450 53.991 6

#1 - Ryan dipped into the 52s which means he is not messing around tonight. Bike looks good, he is looking good, and the track is suiting him well.

#5 - Ryan Dungey improved on his first practice time and is looking smooth. He's usually pretty conservative and I'm a little surpised in his time. Should be interesting to see if the rear shock on his KTM has been is problem.

#7 - While watching practice I keep seeing Instagram photos pop up of his new gear... which is more interesting than seeing a 80% Bubba. Still blazing fast, but oddly enough is a little boring. I'm still a fan of good racing and hope to see him not give up any positions to anyone without a fight. Keep up the consistancy, James.

#18 - Davi improved on his first practice times and is getting comfy. There's some hardpack that I think is going to benefit the bigger guys who can get the power to the ground. Again, I'm super impressed by the Rockstar Team effort this year.

#22 - In all honesty there isn't a lot you can gather from the practice laptimes and I think Mr. TwoTwo knows that. The field is so stacked lately that it's going to boil down to starts, aggression, and a little bit of luck. Chad's working on the aggression.

#41 , #51 - Where is the Factory Honda crew? Don't be surprised that these two predators come out swinging in their heats. This season is SO FAST.

Here's our practice gallery for the Motosport.com Supported riders. Good luck to all of our riders!
