A: The cold weather could be causing other issues which are making it hard to start. This Battery tender would keep your battery at full charge but wouldn't necessarily make it start any better. I would take it to a local service department to have it checked out.

Q: Long term charging?

Can this charger be left on battery for long periods of time like over winter? What is the 80 hour safety referenced in the description?

Q: Does it matter what state your battery is for this unit to work?

Does this unit take long to charge a died battery? Would you recommend to charge a new battery/brand new with this unit?

A: This Battery Tender is really more for maintaining the charge on a good battery. If the battery has been dead for an extended period of time you may need a more powerful battery charger or possibly a new battery. The amount of time this would take to charge a dead battery is really hard to say exactly as it would depend on the size and condition of the battery.
