You should get these
The PC Racing filter skin is great because all you have to do is oil them and put them over your air filter. They can even be washed and used again. They collect almost 90% of dust, dirt, sand, etc... When I rode for about 5 to 6 hours in thick dust, the skin was covered, but when I took it off, the air filter looked great. The skin cleaned right up as well.

Save time and money with Filter Skins
These are amazing. Oil, install and ride. They can be washed and used again. Great for hare scrambles. I have used these on very dusty days and when pulled off my filter is perfectly clean. Great to run during practive and then pull for the moto or pull in between motos. A string can be attached for a quick pull during a three hour hare sramble.

Does this product eliminate the need for an air box lid?

These do not take the place of your air box lid. These are to be used over the existing air filter when riding dusty/sandy areas. You typically install all 3 skins over the filter and remove each skin as it gets dirty. This allows you to keep a clean filter under extreme conditions.

Is there a specific kind of oil you use or can you use normal filter spray?

I would suggest a light filter spray. but any filter oil will work.

Sizing a pc air "filter skin"?
I have a Suzuki DRZ 400S bike, and want the proper size filter skin. Because my air filter is somewhat cone shaped, I don't know where to measure the diameter of the filter....ie, the base is larger than the other end of the filter... Suggestions?

Measure the end of the filter that seals up to the air box at the biggest point and get the size closest to it. I want to say you'll need a 6-8 but you might want to double check that.

These will help to protect the air filter and intake system. Most users will apply multiple skins onto the air filter and as the day goes on they pull the top most layer off and dispose of it. This removes the build up of dirt but also freshens the air filter and helps decrease the amount of particles you could potentially suck in. It's not a total fail safe way to keep the bike safe, but it's better than not having anything at all. Also having a dual stage foam filter helps a lot.
