Difficulty to install?
these cams seem to be basic drop ins, woiuld it be unreasonable to install these in my gargage with some common sense and general mechanic knowledge? about how long would you think it would take (would probably do kibblewhite valves and springs as well). and finally would it severely effect my jetting or my hrottle response down love

I can only speak for my XP with an older XR650Ls, these are my ticket and have built a few now. This is a top flight product and it woke my bikes up drasticly. They did wake up the bottom end just a hint, but what a rocket as she builds! The stage one is great for the average to expert weekend warrior, but with the top end cam the phrase "twist as shout" realy comes to mind. When I used the stage three I did the works, porting, pipes, jetting, ignition, compression and boreing. Big money, and got a bike I sold that winter. TOO FAST !!! With my aplications, I had to remove the motor to do the job correctly, but once that was done and the motor secured to my bench, it was quite simple. You do need to review how to unload the cam chain tensioner/s, but that is the only hick-up for install. YES it WILL mess with the way the bike runs and the jeting requirements. More power, more fuel! I sugjest you find a forum (Thumper Racing works for me time and time again.) and ask questions and they should be able to give you base line start jeting. From there is up to you and how you ride. READ THE PLUG !!!! Tan is good, black is too much fuel, nearly white, to little.
Good luck!! Old Thumper Dude
