Product Description

  • The Gaerne SG10 is arguably dollar for dollar the best motocross boot on the market today due to the innovative features Gaerne packed in.
  • It all starts with the technology to make safe even safer so Gaerne developed the "Razor Back Pivot System" for the SG10 boots that gives superior protection for the ankle. The Razorback system gives great side-to-side and front-to-back mobility without restricting movement.
  • Polyurethane construction with the Razorback system along with the protection on the inside, toe, and outside of the SG10 boots provides excellent impact resistance without adding weight.
  • Leather is a must when developing a high end boot, but Gaerne took it a step further with the SG10 boots and used Italian hand-selected full-grain leather to provide easy break-in and quality protection.
  • Gaerne's "Grip Guard" inner panel is incorporated into the Razorback system that creates a high friction contact point between you and your bike for quality control while protecting against heat and abrasion.
  • A supercross shank gives the SG10 boots a rigid platform that takes any high impact racing or just riding can through at it.
  • Gaining control and feel through the foot pegs is high priority and Gaerne installed a dual compound sole on the SG10 boots to accomplish that.
  • The buckles of the SG10 boots follow the simple rule "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!" The aluminum buckles are durable and adjustable that function with ease.
  • Inside the SG10 boot is like a 5 star resort with the memory cell polyurethane foam liner surrounding your feet with the addition of Bio-foam for a custom like fit.
  • Even the foot bed found in the SG10 boots plays a part in the exceptional comfort. Gaerne incorporated a shock absorbing material to keep you comfy.

New Boots
My son has had a pair of these for 3 years. He really like them so I tried a pair as well. They fit great a feel good. They are much heavier than my Thor boots. My calve muscles hurt quite a bit the first time I wore them either due to being to tight or the weight. Second time I wore them, no issues. Love the fit and feel. I guess the only negative was the price. I did not do my homework and found them $100 cheaper on another site.

Oh yea baby. You want comfort, function, flexibility, support and style? The SG10 boot has all that and felt like slippers from the first time I put them on. Well worth any price. Thank you Gaerne for making such a wonderful product.

Awesome Boots!!! Debated the SIDI
I could not decide between SG10,SG12 and SIDI boots, wanted something protective and that would last. Been a long time Gaerne fan. Even the cheapest pair I had lasted. Well it was a smart move, you cant go wrong with these, the first time you place your foot in the boot it just feels "high tech" and expensive. They break in quick and will last years, best boots I have owned by far. I'd take these any day over all alpine star boots!

These boots are pretty fantastic. Granted, they're a bit pricey, but the value is awesome.

Phenomenal Boots!
Gaerne has made a truly top of the line boot here. Having recently broken my tib and fib this last December (12/10), I spent a good deal of time weighing out all of my options in the way of high-end boots... And boy oh boy I couldn't be happier with these things! The construction, fit and finish of these boots are second to none and they feel both extremely supportive and comfortable once worked in a little bit. They seem to wear pretty darn well from what I've found thus far, the buckles and straps work flawlessly and the confidence and "strength" they seem to promote/provide feels great (especially in lieu of the injury and whatnot). Having ridden in these SG-10s for a little while now, I can't imagine wearing or settling for anything less in moving forward! 5 stars for sure...

Awesome boots!
The first day I wore these boots, I was on a solo trail ride and swamped my bike 7 miles away from the truck. Any other boot on the planet would have resulted in festering blisters and bloody sores on that 7 mile hike back up the mountain to get the truck. Not these sg-10s. My feet were no worse for the wear. I have about 20-25 hard rides on them now, and there are no signs of wear. I would recommend ordering a size smaller than your sneakers though. They do seem to run a little big. I won't buy any other kind of boot... period.

These are the 2008, I didn't realize it when I first purchased, but I am still happy with the purchase. I couldn't tell you what the difference is between the 08 and 2010.

Are these good for a flat/wide foot?
I have flat and wide feet. Would these be more suitable for me than the Sidi Crossfires? I've heard that at least the toe box is wider on Gaerne, is that correct?

I couldn' give you a comparison with the sidi's but i've worn the Tech-8's for years before switching to the SG10. The SG10 has a more relaxed fit than the tech-8's. Also, the SG10 accommodates wider calves. I have wide flat feet and would sometimes get sore arches with the tech-8, but with the SG10 i but in some custom footbeds for a little extra arch support and I've never had sore feet again. The Sidi's crossfire's seem to be really narrow in the toes and throughout the boot. but i've never rode with them.

I have a pair of SG-10's and a pair of the Gaerne supermoto boots. I wear a 12w and I have no problems with these boots whatsoever.

My foot is a little wider than average, and these boots accommodate me just fine. Couldn't tell you about the crossfires though.

The Tech-8's use an inner bootie and teh SG10 don't. the reason the Alpinestars hurt your ankles is because the support is built internally into the boot. As the boots break in, you'll notice they wont hurt your feet as much. The SG10 have the hinge on the boot and are comfortable out of the box. But they don't have the inner bootie like the AStars.

I don't have Tech 8s, but I do have a steel plate in my right ankle, and these boots don't bother me. They are quit comfortable, but it all just depends on your perticular foot type I suppose.

Do these or any boots come in wide sizes?
I have a wide foot and a 17 1/2 inch calf. I need wide boots. Does anyone know if these or any other boots come in wide sizes or if any of these boots run wide, also if any of them run big in the calf?

All of the manufactures we stock do not make a wide specific boot.

The buckles and the straps both adjust, so there is quite a bit of adjustment for the calve, the width seems decent also, but they're not super wide, so you might need to size up...

Does the pivot system help with overjumping or casing ?
MotoSport Staff
Over 4 years ago Location: Portland, OR
It helps a little bit just because it gives your ankles more of a free motion to help absorb the impact.
Yes. and that is why you buy more expensive boots are for more ankle protection. I have the sg-10 and they are sweet. Cased a jump and ankles didnt even feel it. Used to have alpinestar tech 3s. My ankles could feel the difference

I wear size 11&1/2 to 12 shoes and boots, mostly size 12, and the size 12 Gaerne SG 10 seems to fit just fine.
