  • Gaerne has developed a unique double stage pivot system for the SG 12 boots. The first stage of the pivot system is between the lower and middle shell that runs on a traditional pivot point with the addition of a glide-plate. This design on the SG 12 boots provides rigid lateral support while keeping the upright position firm. The second pivot point is between the middle shell and upper shell that operate as a slide to offer natural forward movement.
  • The front shin guard on the Gaerne SG 12 boots are not only constructed out of thermoplastic and anatomically shaped for comfort, they can also be adjusted to accommodate larger legs or knee-braces.
  • Gaerne uses a heal cup on the SG 12 that provides shock absorption in the event of rear compression.
  • The Gaerne SG 12 boots have a slimmed down toe-box that has been wrapped in a lighter but durable plastic material that transmits feedback through the controls easily.
  • Gaerne came up with a new inner boot heat and protection plate that also offers superior grip. The grip guard is made from rubber to provide optimum feedback while maximizing protection.
  • The buckles on the SG 12 boots follow the simple rule "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!" The aluminum buckles are durable and adjustable that function with ease.
  • Gaerne hasn't forgotten about comfort, in fact the foot beds have also been redesigned on the SG 12 boots. These foot beds were made matching the natural shape of the foot which reduces fatigue. The heal of the SG 12 foot beds have a shock absorbing rubber while the front have increased ventilation.
  • The Gaerne SG 12 boots continue to use their famous "Gaerne Memory Cell Foam" that feel like a custom fit boot for all day riding.
  • Finding the best is what the SG 12 boots is all about and Gaerne didn't even short out the gaiters. The gaiters are made of a Swiss fabric called Acronos. This material is breathable and easily stretches to keep sand and debris out.

What It Is

Gaerne's popular SG-10 boot is a favorite of the TransWorld Motocross testing staff thanks to its exceptional comfort and high level of protection. The SG-12 is the latest and greatest from the Italian boot maker, and it takes the design of the tried-and-true SG-10 and goes so much further that the new boot skipped right past the number 11.

Hits

We thought that the existing SG-10 was comfortable, but compared to the ultra-plush SG-12, the old boots feel like ancient torture devices. The interior memory foam padding is the plushest we've ever slipped our feet into, and thanks to the boot's Twin-Pivot hinged design, the ankle of the SG-12 is snug and streamlined, with absolutely no outward bunching when flexed. The rubber that surrounds the actual pivot point of the SG-12 is vastly improved over the SG-10's, which used to tear or wear away when worn by an aggressive rider who rode with a firm grip on the motorcycle's frame. Additionally, the massive rubber panels on the inside surface of the SG-12 offer maximum grip against the motorcycle, which in turn equals better control out on the track. The new buckles are among the easiest to operate, and require no special technique or care to operate. The glued-on soles feature softer compounds in the shifter and brake pedal contact points, and thus far, have exhibited a long lifespan, even against supersharp aftermarket foot pegs. The all-new look of the SG-12 is both progressive and stylish, without being overdone.

" I have been running Gaerne boots for the last couple of years! My first set was the SG 10 but just recently i got a brand new pair of SG-12's and these things are awesome!!! The buckles work great they are super comfy and the look sweet!! I would highly recommend any Gaerne boot but if you have the cash it just does not get any better the the SG 12! Best Boot Ever
" This is the most comfortable boot ever made. This boot fits great and rides even better! There is great protection all around the boot, especially in the ankle and toe. I wear a size 9 ½ in my work boots and new balance shoes. I bought size 10 and it fits like a dream! People say toe area is a little large but I don’t think so, I did adjust my shifter up 1 notch to compensate for their extra girth. Great Boot. Must buy!! "

" i was skeptical ordering a boot ive never tryed on after hearing the sg10 sizing was off. but the 12s are spot on with sneaker size, for me at least.. at first putting the boot on you will notice how the gel inserts literally hug/ squeeze your ankle in a positive way. the gator is tough! the buckles are effortless to use. walking in them brand new is easy, already have that broke in feel, plus just holding the boot you can tell this boot IS TOUGH!! built so sturdy, kinda like how youd expect frm Gaerne. Ive had tech 8s and these are half the weight, twice the comort, and way more durable. i know everyone says this but, these boots are worth the money!! "

I love these Boots
" When I slipped my foot into this boot I immediately knew it fit perfect. I had broken my right leg in 2 places inside of my old alpinestars about 4” up from the ankle. Getting back into riding now and wanted a stiffer boot, well these boots fit and feel great. I am usually a size 11 in the Astars and the Size 10 in the SG12 fit perfectly. The only problem I have had is some of the screws that hold the buckles on where loose and had to be retightened. "

Best MX Boots EVER!!!
" I used to wear Alpinestars Tech-8's. Those were GOOD boots. The Gaerne SG12's are AWESOME boots!!!!!! These are the best boots I've ever had! They are comfortable, great feel on the bike, and they look good too. I had a little issue with my insoles so MotoSport had me talk to Gaerne directly. They took care of the problem no questions asked! Awesome customer service. You can't go wrong with these boots. At first they seem a little pricy, but they are worth every penny! I would definitely purchase these boots again. "

Best Boot EVER!!!!!!!!
" I bought these boots a year ago hesetent about the 500 dollar price tag. Straight out of the box they were the most comfortable boot I have ever worn. I did a desert race today, i was in 4th gear going up a hill and my right foot peg caught a boulder. It hit so hard that the rear brake lever put a hole in the side case of my motor. My foot was saved by these boots and the only damage to them is a hole the size of a safety pin. If I was wearing any other boot my foot would have been crushed. I will never buy another brand of boots. THESE ARE THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!! "

" This boot is awesome! I used to have Tech 8's and I like these alot better. To me they're not as bulky as the 8's. Once you use a ankle pivot system like this one you never want to go back, I can actually move my ankle up and down to ease shifting and not to mention walking with this very flexible yet super protective boot. I really like the buckle system as well, very easy to put on and take off, and they never come loose. Fit is very very comfortable, the best I've tried yet. I'm a size 12 shoe and also use size 12 boot. I'd say it's definitely worth the hefty price tag. Great investment "

" BEST BOOT ON THE MARKET!!! please do notttt waste money on any other boot. Ive had tech 8s. F3s and have tested my friends tech 10s. and after reading the transworld mx buyers guide and drooling over these boots i finally saved up enough money and bought them. Let me tell you. it was the best investment i have made since buying the bike. Its as though im not even wearing a boot but a plush shoe thats as tuff as nails. i honestly would put money that someone could walk in these boots for a couple of miles and not feel any soreness or swelling whatsoever. they are the equivalent to a mercedes for your feet and i will never buy any other boot. i am hooked! the buckles never come undone, the grip is great and doesnt scratch ur graphics like the previous sg10s were said to do and i just cant stop saying how comfortable they are. its unreal. if you have the money dont hesitate. if you dont i would highly recommend saving. you will not be disappointed i promise. How do these compare to the SG10's

The Sg10's are an awesome boot but the SG12's just went with some newer features, they redesigned the dual pivot points, the grip guards are larger on the inside of the boot for better grip on the bike, the toe cap was redesigned to add a "bumper" almost like on the rear of the boot to help with impacts, and they also put a new sole on the boot thats supposed to last longer. All in all both boots are an excellent choice it's just the SG12's have newer features and are a hair lighter.

Have you've seen the price on the new Tech10's. Cost of goods are up in a not so forgiving time. But yes the SG12 is an awesome boot. I've been wearing SG10 and I couldn't compare the new 12's to them. they are in a totally different class. Nice boot and a whole lot better construction.

They made the toe box a little smaller on the SG12's to get a better feel while shifting so depending on what boots you have, it should be fairly simple to shift.

actually they are looser when i bought mine i had to go down a size and if you are planning on buying these i would highly suggest to go to your local dealer and try them on first

I haven't had experience with sg 12s but I have used gaerne boots for the past two years. They are very roomy up in the calf region. I use fastbacks, and they have multiple attachment points for the buckles. so you can make it wider. I don't know exactly what sg 12s have, but it must be close
