Product Description

FMF SST Pipe:

The creation of the SST pipe was no accident. R&D invested countless hours to find a way to extend mid-range pull and over-rev. With the SST, the powerband becomes stronger throughout the mid-range with phenomenal peak horsepower thus making it a pipe that is ideal for a broad range of riding. The benefits brought together by the SST makes this pipe one of the most impressive bolt-on 2-stoke modifications that money can buy.

  • Makes for crisp response at the crack of the throttle.
  • Revamp your power band with impressive top-end extension.
  • Quality constructed for maximum durability.
  • FMF ensures an accurate fit every time with their Tru-Flo stamping in the building of the SST pipe.
  • Chrome-plated finish over carbon steel for maximum durability and aesthetics.
  • Supplied O-rings ensure a flawless fit.
  • Match the FMF SST pipe with the FMF Powercore 2 Silencer to get the best performance from your 2-stroke.
  • Note: May require use of high octane fuel.

Note: Pipe may include factory indentations for proper installation clearance.

FMF Powercore 2 Silencer:

  • FMF adds the Powercore 2 silencer to its arsenal of 2-stroke exhaust options because FMF is brand that knows how to maximize power for any terrain.
  • The sleeve of the Powercore 2 silencer is constructed from extruded aluminum to provide a lightweight design. FMF incorporated a tuned perforated core for exceptional performance.
  • FMF made sure the Powercore 2 silencer was also durable by using stainless steel on the performance flow end cap and the stinger.
  • FMF makes it easy to perform maintenance on the Powercore 2 silencer by using removable bolts to break it down.

FMF exhaust combo
I havent really had a chance to really see what this new exhaust is capable of. I installed it along with a Trailtech lightweight flywheel on my 2006 KTM 300 XC-W and for the 5 minute ride i took the bike seemed much snappier and layed down rubber through the end of second gear.

I have used this pipe on three of my bikes and the outcome is always the same. Really woke up my new yz250, a lot more pull up top.

Decent buy
The combo works great together and it gives you that little extra kick that stock doesnt give you. Its not a huge power boost but you can for sure tell out on the track. It pulls and pulls, sounds great, looks great, and holds up pretty well. It didnt take long at all to put on. The chrome header is awesome and stays shiny with a little WD40 every once in a while.

Sounds good BUT
I think FMF did apoor job on sealing the pipe to the cilynder. We replace the O rings every other ride. I called FMF and they would not give me a solution to the problem. As a father keeping 85's going for the next day racing they could have been more helpful, other than o well keep tearing down and replacing.

Excellent!
this pipe combo helped out my 05kx125 alot it has better bottom mid and top so you can get on the power and it turns that 2 stroke crazy powerband into controld great useable power.... well worth the money going 2 have alot of good riding with this exaust
Overall
GREAT!!
I put the pipe with the shorty silencer on my kx 85. The bike got on the power faster. It didn't make much difference over stock but it still pulled me fast enough to win some bigger races.

Amazing!
It was easy to install, I only had to make minor adjustments to the mounting spots for the pipe. I felt faster acceleration, More pull/Power in all gears. I felt an overall increase in power and like everybody says, The SST really wakes up your bike from the stock pipe and makes the bike look a lot better because of the chrome finish. So in conclusion, it gives your bike an overall power increase and gives your bike some really nice looks. I would recommend to anyone!

What combo would be best for hill climbing? (usually 3rd gear and up)?
Usually pretty high speed (3rd gear and above)

There is many different things to consider when asking a question like this (such as gearing). The shorty silencer will give you much better bottom end from the engine but you will lose a little bit of top speed as it will fall flat a little quicker. The Powercore 2 will be more beneficial if you are typically in higher gears with wide open type riding.

Will i need to re jet my bike?
I have a 2009 YZ250. Will i need to get a different jetting kit for it or is the way it is good for the SST combo? and should i go with the shorty or the powercore?
MotoSport Staff

You should check your jetting after installing an exhaust system. Most likely you will have to rejet. If you do more tight track riding than trails go with the shorty, if you like to do a mixture of both go with the powercore.

Which is the best end pipe for the sst pipe?
I ride a 2007 Honda Cr85 is the powercore 2 silencer or the powercore 2 shorty better with the sst pipe?
Expert MotoSport Staff
Over 3 years ago Location: USA
If most of your riding is at a track I'd recommend the shorty, but if you ride elsewhere go with the standard powercore2 silencer.
Over 3 years ago Location: ST ANTHONY
The shorty pipe is for bottom end and the normal power core is for topend. I ride the dunes and desert and fmf recommended the sst and the shorty.

Combo for kx85. do i need to jet? also running fast track, which silencer is for me?
MotoSport Staff
Over 3 years ago Location: P+RTLAND
Yes, you will need a jet kit and your best bet would be running the standard silencer. It's a little more broad as far as power goes instead of focusing on the bottom end like the shorty does. Your call in the end, both will be about the same as far as performance goes.

You will have to rejet the bike with this pipe and silencer. Jets are jets as long as buy them for your specific carb.
