• Decades of racing development went into the design of the FMF Powercore 4 to improve the power and performance of your dirt bike or ATV at a practical price.
  • The FMF Powercore 4 is a muffler that will boost power and torque throughout the power range, making the Powercore 4 usable for all types of riding.
  • FMF designed a Hi-Flo end cap and core for the Powercore 4 to increase power by creating a free flowing end cap and a core that allows room for exhaust pulse. This results in a consistent power curve.
  • The FMF Powercore 4 uses and advanced cross-weave packing that is more durable then the traditional packing. The cross-weave packing also keeps the Powercore 4 at a reasonable sound level by dissipating the exhaust sound.
  • FMF constructed the Powercore 4 using aluminum to keep the weight down with stainless steel components for extended durability.
  • The FMF Powercore 4 includes a USFS approved spark arrestor.

What It Is

The FMF Racing Powercore 4 Slip-On replaces the stock muffler and mid-pipe. Designed to be an economical way to coax additional horsepower out of your bike, the Powercore 4 Slip-On is designed to complement your bike's stock header pipe.

Hits

Okay, it's time to come clean. We weren't expecting a lot from the Powercore 4 Slip-On for the 2008 Yamaha YZ250F. Why? Because we weren't huge fans of the more expensive Factory 4.1 Megabomb complete system in '07 and didn't think that a simple, pricepoint slip-on offered any significant power gains. Boy, were we wrong! Thanks to some improvements made to the '08 machine as a base starting point, the Powercore 4 Slip-On yields a noticeable boost right from the crack of the throttle! The biggest gains are felt down low, as the YZ250F has a snappy, torquey feel with the Powercore installed. Mid-range power is about the same, but the Yamaha pulls quite a bit further in each gear before flattening out.

Misses

Unlike the stock muffler, which utilizes a large rubber grommet at the subframe mount, the Powercore 4 Slip-On bolts straight to the sub-frame. We know from experience that this will eventually vibrate the rivets holding the mount to the muffler can loose if you don't keep a close eye on eye on them.

The Verdict

FMF Racing designed the Powercore 4 Slip-On to be affordable and effective. When it comes to the '08 Yamaha YZ250F, we'd say it is mission accomplished!

Worth every cent and then some!
" I bought a brand new 2011 RMZ 450 and promptly crashed it, bad! New sub frame and exhaust. I just put this exhaust on my bike and it fit perfectly. I didn't even have to put any silicone on before mating the pipes together. Fitment is perfect and the sound is not much above stock but enough that you can tell the difference. Performance? Not so sure. I haven't ridden since April and yesterday was my first ride so I was scared anyway. Lol! "

Best slip on for the money
" I have this exhaust for both my CRF 150R and CRF 250R and by far it's the best performing and easy fitting exhaust for the money you can get. It produces a great sound and gives your bike some good low end power and torque. Again, great exhaust for the money!! "

overall impressed
" I ordered this exhaust for my '06 honda crf250x and just got it installed. the sound is great, makes it sound very similar to and 250r. as for the power... i was expecting more. it adds a little top end but thats about it. love how it looks. one thing i did notice is that when the rear tire is bottomed out, the tire will probably rub the exhaust even with the spacing washer that fmf includes. but overall it seems like a great product. cant wait to really test it out at hatfield mccoy. thumbs up FMF "

Nice Exhaust
" Got into somebody in a turn and damaged the stock pipe so I had to pick up a replacement. This exhaust has a nice deep tone and opened up a bit more power. The installation was pretty effortless... At first it looked like the factory gasket may need to be salvaged, but the clamp tightened down enough to make a good seal. Overall, worth the money for an aftermarket exhaust. "

Decent
" The powercore is a excellent pipe for the off roader, but this pipe doesn't match the Over-rev of my recently smashed 4.1. Just needed a cheap fix. Overall, for a YZF bike, Dubach is the way to go, FMF has header to Midpipe sealing problems because of the springed header (Trick is to use 4 springs instead of two). Also, the megabomb can hit the top end oil line and break it. (Fix it by denting in the bomb header by the line. "

Great Slip-on
" Installed on a 2008 Yamaha YFZ450 special edition. This slip on really has a wonderful sound and was relatively affordable compared to other slip-ons. it was easy to install, looks really good, but didnt notice huge power gains. I expected that from a slip-on though. I recommend this product to anyone looking for a slip-on exhaust. That's why my brother will be getting his soon. "

Good Buy
" This was a great buy for my 08' Honda 400ex. Very easy to install other than one problem. The hose clamp that it came with to hold the mid-pipe and the head-pipe together was too small. I called FMF and they said that they do not require it for the stock head-pipe and said just the high-temp silicon would work. So just to make sure I went out and bought a bigger hose clamp. Other than that issue the sound is great and it really woke my stock 400EX up with that and a Moose Racing stage 1 jet kit. The sound is quite impressive for just a slip on. I plan on adding FMF's Powerbomb head-pipe as well so we will see how that one works out. P.S. If you are running this with a stock air filter make sure to leave the air box lid on. I tried running it with it off and my performance was hurt terribly, not to mention that there was a throttle delay. "

Good bang for the buck
" I had picked this product out for my birthday and installed it on my 07 Wr250f over spring break in a matter of 30 minutes. Finally got to ride now that the snow is melted and was very impressed. There was noticeable difference in the low end torque and a power increase across the board. The bike was significantly more snappy and wants to pull the front tire off the ground through every gear if traction will allow. Great buy, will recommend to friends. "

Wow!
" I purchased this muffler for my 08 YZ450F. Primarily for the spark arrestor. I was blown away by the power increase. The pipe was easy to install took less than 20 minutes. I had to jump to a 165 main jet, that took more time than the actual install of the pipe. Can't comment on durability since I haven't crashed with it yet. "

Great muffler for spark arrestors
" I purchased this muffler because the stock muffler on a YZ250F doesn't have a spark arrestor. This is a great entry level exhaust that comes with the spark arrestor for the money. It sounds almost identical to my stock exhaust which surprised me a bit. It looks much nicer though. Simple install in the home garage with basic tools. Great buy. "

Three years and still kicking
" Selling my '03 DS650 that has had this PC4 on it for almost three years now, bought new from here. It sounds godly on such a big machine and pretty descent power gains, not as much as I expected. " I just put this on my 2008 trx250ex and it runs great. The pipe was a little difficult to install on this quad but after it is on it is awesome. Increases power and speed. Awsome Pipe For The Money
" Ok, funny thing is i bought this for my 06 yz450f, as a slip on, then recently bought an 06 yz250f with an fmf power bomb header, i thought hey, maybe the power core 4 will fit on my 250. Sure enough it did. The slip on is loud even with the spark arresterator in it, looks nice, sounds great and adds a good amount of power. I would recomend the header to because with the 2 together, it is a great combination, alot like the 4.1. Id recomend jetting it to because it has great power out of the box but with a jet kit, it is insaine. "

My favorite slip-on
" This is a great pipe. I first purchased this exhaust for the deep throaty sonics that it produced. The installation was simple and quick. I also liked that the slip-on has two places where it bolted to my quad frame, which makes it very secure. After installation I notice a significant gain in the torque and low end accelleration. I definetely recommend this slip-on. "

will i have to change the jets in my 2005 crf 250r for this??
Asked by colton1234567890
it is always a good idea to check your jetting when changing exhaust or intake. you are moving more air, therefore you want to give the engine more fuel.

Do you need the Fmf Powercore IV bracket on a 1999 Yamaha Warrior 350.

No bracket should be needed. It should have came ready to bolt right on. You might want to contact FMF.

FMF Powercore slip-on
Asked by Racer1, Abingdon, IL
I don't think the spark arrestor has much to do with it. but running at 20 degrees has to put you in a very lean running condition if it's not jetted to that temp...you will probably have to go up 1or 2 sizes on you're main jet, drop the clip one position on the needle and turn out the fuel screw another half turn or more
Answered by davel, Harrisville,RI
Will it Fit stock header?
Asked by brotherman
As long as they offer this system for your Bike or ATV it would be designed to fit the stock head pipe. In some cases the manufactures design the systems so you would be able to add a head pipe at a later time.

what is the dbl for the fmf powercore 1V
Asked by axman, california
The sound output for the powercore IV should be approximately 100db. The quietcore insert should bring it down to about 96db.
Answered by BOB3
what jets?
Asked by brocktrx, middleburg fl
Unfortunately I cant give out any jetting specs since there are a lot of things that could judge it. The best thing to do is install your exhaust, see how it responds, then take the bike to a local shop of call a local shop for some recommendations. Changing the jets can be a little complicating so if you haven't pulled apart a carb before I would have a professional mechanic install the jets for you.
Answered by Drewski, Por+land
2005 KX250F when I put on this item I lost my bottom end? Is this a jetting issue?

Most likely.. You shouldn't have lost any bottom end with this exhaust. Check the jetting out and you should be good.

Asked by trx3
Dont base what you will receive off the pictures. Yes it will be the same item, but since bends of pipes, lengths, etc.. depend on what bike it's ordered for we can t picture every single exhaust system for each bike and year. If you don't trust the website, call in over the phone and talk to someone.
Answered by Drewski, P+RTLAND
If you put this pipe on with a stock header is there a noticeable power increase
Asked by Zacky
Yes, you will gain a little bit of power, but not like a full system.
Answered by Drewski, P+RTLAND
If you buy this pipe do you have to re-jet or will you be okay?
Asked by Zacky
It's always recommended to check your jetting after installing any exhaust component.
Answered by Drewski, P+RTLAND
To take advantage of the new pipe I highly recommend rejetting, as far as it being ok, in most cases I would say it's fine, just need to readjust the carb a little.
Answered by Ciderax, Arizona, AZ
Is it ok to put a megabomb header on this pipe?

Answered by james718, Portland, OR
Yes, all of the FMF pipes are compatible with all FMF headers. You can mix and match to suit your preference/needs.

I have a 2008 KTM SXF 250 i put on this slip-on and it wiggles just enough to break the silicone seal everytime... what should i do to prevent this?
Asked by ktmsxf250
I would suggest giving FMF a call and see if they know what might be causing the pipe to vibrate. The nice thing with FMF is all of their pipes are build in house, not in some factory in china.
Answered by james718, USA
Is it a simple bolt-on installation?

Yup, just remove your old one and reinstall the new one the same way.

would I notice a big difference if I switch from dual exhaust on the crf250r to a single exhaust?
Asked by fox250r
If you're riding the bike to its fullest, you might notice a difference between a single or dual exhaust. It's my understanding Honda choose the smaller dual exhaust for better low end response and to bring the sound level down. By switching to a single can, you might notice a increase in the top end, but the bike will be louder. But typically any aftermarket exhaust system will out perform the stock pipes, and this usually applies to any bike.
