Did the job

Riding behind the kids on a very dusty single track, I took the tip of a downed fir tree, which I hadn't seen due to the dust, directly in my left chest. Just like jousting...ripped me off my bike and tore my new Fox 360 jersey (darn), but I was unhurt. Could have been ugly. I won't be riding whithout it!

Excellent product

My son was gifted this chest protector as well as the integrated neck brace from his uncle. Saturday the 26th of March 2016 my 12 year old was going 40 down a wash that after a sudden left turn was suddenly gone. I was behind him and watched him take a terrible spill. His helmet is gouged. There's a gouge in the right shoulder of this chest protector, and gouges down the right back side. He's bruised, he's a bit swollen, but he's not broken and for that I'm thankful! Watching my baby participate in a sport he loves gives me many proud mom moments.... but being a sport where accidents can become tragic in a second I am forever thankful to Alpine Stars for a great product and to Uncle Brian for the generous gift.

I highly recommend this product.

Breaks easily, doesn't last long, cheap metal

I bought this about 6 months ago and it came broken out of the box. One of the tabs to lock the strap in was broken. All the metal on it is very very very cheap Chinese metal. The screws holding the shoulder guards on are very difficult to tighten when they come loose because the screwdriver strips the top of them off with little effort because of the cheap metal used. I had to drill through it in both shoulder guards and put a screw and bolt on to keep the shoulder guards on. If I were you I would strongly recommend not buying this chest protector. Go for the Troy Lee Designs Shock Doctor one. Bottom line is the metal is just WAAYYY to soft. I don't understand why they would make this with such cheap metal. You WILL have the same problem with the soft metal.

I had to return the vest. It is sized M-2X, it ran small.

Good protection

Size runs a little on the small side. Good quality.

Great vest!

I'm 6' 1", 185 lbs and the 2x-4x fits well. Rode with it yesterday for the first time and very impressed. Seems very well made.

Needs a couple of things to be perfect

I am big guy,6'2" 240 pounds and i bought the largest size possible. There are tons of adjustments to get the fit just how i liked it but it did take some time to achieve. The 2 major problems i have is the back protection does not articulate, it is a solid piece that does not bend the same way my back does. On me it has a slight bend going out ward at the bottom away my lower back. I dont think this effects the fit or how it will work in a crash but it looks funny. The adjustment screws are rather tight from the factory and you need to have a very large flat blade screw driver or you will end up stripping the heads. The A-8 stays in place while riding and is very comfortable. I have my USWE/Leatt H4 back on over the A-8 without issue. I have not crash tested it yet so i cannot comment on it's durability

I just cracked 2 ribs and the pain is awful,,, nothing can compare to the pain. But saying that i didn't wear a chest protector cause i didn't think they were cool. After my latest wreck when I messed my ribs up my parents made me get this protecter. It feels awesome, fits great with my BNS I also took the shoulder pads off to put it under my jersey.... it honestly doesn't look like you're wearing anything. So get this!!!! its worth the money all day long to not go threw this pain

Good rib protection

I bought the A-8 for the rib protection. This unit does a much better job of covering the ribs than most. When I first put it on the fit was pretty weird but it has plenty of adjustment to make it fit just right.

ordered med xl and my opinion was too was very tite..i am 6'1 190lbs...only covered to above my belly button...also had a broken tab new out of box on the front clip ...sent back next day...ordered a 2 x was alot better but shoulder cups are located far towards back and top of shoulder..not towards front top of shoulder..front of plastic dug into my pecks and has sharp edges..also the shoulder cups have sharp pointy edges that would stick my back..very bottom of back protector has like a tail that sticks away from my your back about 1'' 1 1/ does not follow the contour of your back properly.i have a alpinestars bns that is supposed to fit perfectly with this chest fox airframe fits bs...this does have a ton of adjustment and it can be moved every which way but i could not get it to fit right....also trying to adjust it is like pulling teeth from a 2 year old kid..terrible...but does have a lot of it...looks are awesome!!!! side latteral guards are sweet...i think that this would be a very hott chest protector doubt about it that they put time and effort into this thing but will look into another... O almost forgot to say.....the second one i received was broke also..the bns tab loop the holds the bns down broke while walking around my living room..just received it today at .245pm and was already back in the box by 630pm to ship back to motosport... this is at no fault to motosport ..motosport payed for shipping back to them on both protectors..i use none other than motosport for all my off road needs..the best!!!

A: The XXL-4XL Size would fit riders 6'1" to 6'5". Unfortunately, Alpinestars does not give out the extact length of the torso guard so it is hard to say how far down it will sit. I would say with this particular vest, it should come down far enough to cover most of the stomach area.

Q: How does it fit with a leatt neck brace and where is a good sizing chart?

A: I do not own a leatt only a alpinestar bns neck brace.. I found that it was a 50-50 fit. Not great but better than most others I've owned.. the straps that hold the neck brace in place brke before I was ever able to wear while riding... fit chart I found said I needed small - large...I think the xl-2xl fit me better..I sent back both a8 that I ordered because they both broke before I ever had a chance to use them..I am 6'1 and 173 lbs...

A: This is designed to work with a neck brace. Depending on your body type/build and your preferences though, it is recommended to try both on to see if they would work for you specifically.
