What It Is

The Gaerne React Boot is a mid-level motocross and offroad boot that offers a more traditional fit and feel, yet still incorporates modern protection advancements like a single-sided, hinged ankle.

Hits

The Gaerne React Boot is good looking, comfortable, and easy to put on. With no internal booty, it's just a matter of slipping your foot into the generously padded interior and closing the four easyto- operate-and-adjust buckles. The single-sided hinge design offers good support and helps protect you from rolling your ankle, while at the same time giving the inside surfaces of the boot great grip against your bike's frame. The rubber grip panels on the insides of the calf areas offer great additional traction. The React is easy to break in, and I was comfortable in it within a few laps. Support is good, and I liked that you could really get the ankle area nice and snug. The rubber gaiter at the top of the boot seals well and does a good job of keeping the boots from snagging on the bike's body panels. Because of their simpler design, the React weighs a bit less than its higherpriced brethren

Misses

The boots run about a half size smaller than the SG-10 and SG-12 Gaerne boots. If you are a Gaerne die-hard, be sure to try them on first.

The Verdict

For a little over $300, the Gaerne React boot offers Italian craftsmanship, a high level of comfort, good looks, and plenty of support. If you balk at the idea of paying $500 or more for a high-end boot, this is the boot for you.
