Product Description

The MotoSport.com Wiseco Pro-Lite Piston Kit - 4-Stroke includes one of each of the following components with the following attributes:

The Wiseco Piston Kit is not just a basic piston replacement, it is a performance piston kit that is more durable than O.E.M. pistons and includes everything necessary to rebuild your top end.

Wiseco Pro-Lite Piston:

Important note: This piston is for a stock sized bore. Please measure your cylinder to check clearance before ordering.

Wiseco leads the performance aftermarket by producing the highest quality forged pistons in the U.S.A. Wiseco is unique because they forge all of their own pistons in-house, and produce all of their own forge tooling in the U.S.A. This allows Wiseco to control all aspects of their manufacturing process from raw bar to skirt coating on the finished parts.

Wiseco Pro-Lite motorcycle pistons are forged using the highest quality materials available resulting in a piston that provides excellent performance and durability. The Wiseco Pro-Lite piston features a race-ready dome finish with smooth edges for improved combustion flow. The rings, wrist pin, and circlips are manufactured by Wiseco under their strict quality standards to make sure every piston kit fits correctly, ensuring top performance is achieved.

Pro-Lite Piston features:

  • Much stronger than stock.
  • Tight tolerances for quiet running.
  • More hours with peak performance between piston changes.
  • All Pro-Lite pistons include rings, wrist pin and circlips.

Extreme racing conditions demand the strength and toughness that only forged pistons can offer. Compared to cast pistons, forgings are tougher and more durable, and will stand up to the abuse that high performance motorsport applications require. Most castings are brittle, have no grain structure and tend to fail catastrophically when the material yield strength is exceeded. Forgings have condensed grain that is aligned to the features of the part, which produces higher mechanical properties, and resistance to impact and fatigue. Each forging is designed to optimize the strength-to-weight ratio, and maximize performance.

Cometic Top End Gasket Kit:

State-of-the-art gaskets is what Cometic has been doing since its inception in 1989. This comes from their dedication to constructing gaskets for the most demanding race circuits like AMA and NASCAR. Today's lightweight engines are producing more horsepower, higher cylinder pressure, clamp load and extreme temperatures. Cometic's commitment is to provide innovative, quality gaskets while maximizing your engine's power and performance.

Cometic meets the needs of each specific gasket by using materials to match. Even the basic top end gasket kit features different materials for each gasket. The head gasket is constructed from non-asbestos, flexible graphite that is laminated to a stainless steel core. The manifold and base gaskets are constructed from non-asbestos nitride rubber-bound fiber. Cometic also includes copper gaskets where needed.

Cometic designs and builds their gaskets in the U.S.A.

First time for me
I've never replaced a piston before in a four stroke. But, with the economy the way it is I thought I would give it a try. Changing the piston is pretty simple but you have to take a lot of items off the bike to access the piston. I found this Wiseco top-end kit worked great for my KX250F. Everything worked perfectly including the gaskets and rings. I've put 50 hours on my bike since the piston replacement and it is running great!

Great kit!
I bought this for a 2007 CRF250R, installed as easy as a 4 stroke topend can be to install. Parts fit perfect and really woke the bike up! With the original topend still in the bike I didn't realize how much power I had lost until I put this kit in and WOW what a difference! Power gains from the very bottom all the way to the very top of the RPM range!

Is this piston considered to be high compression?
MotoSport Staff

For the 2008 Suzuki RMZ450, this piston kit would be considered standard compression, or the same as OEM.

Can i get an 11-1 compression piston for my 2002 yz250f?
i need lower compression cause im sick of putting a new crank in when i do a rebuild

Does this piston support a 5-valve head?
the picture shows the piston with only 4 valve seats. I don't like to go by pics alone, so does this support a 5 valve head on a 2001 WR426?
MotoSport Staff
Over 3 years ago Location: Tualatin
yes this is just a generic picture and the piston for your WR426 will accept the 5 valves

yes this piston will support a 5 valve head. i just bought one for my 08 YZ 250F. these bikes now have 5 valves also

Actually (after I got it) it's a 3 ring design, 2 compression and the oil ring.

Does the kit come with any seals? I've looked at other piston kits for my bike on different websites but they come with seals but are $100.00 more?

This includes the piston, rings, pin and clips along side a top end gasket kit. No oil seals are included.

Is the piston a stock bore for a 2003 polaris predator 500?
MotoSport Staff Expert
Over 3 years ago Location: USA
If you select the stock size, than you'll receive the stock bore. If it only lists stock, than it'll be the stock bore.

Will I need higher octane gas?
I plan to use the wiseco piston in my 350 wolverine (10.25:1 instead of stock 9.2:1 compression) stage one hot cams, and an open airbox with a pro design filter kit. What octane level will I need to run? 93?
Top 25 Contributor
Over 3 years ago Location: Cahttanooga tenn.
NO 93! 03 is probably a little too low. i run a 14:1 in my bike and i run 107 octane. i reccomend 103 octane. if you cant find where to buy it you could possibly get octane boost and add to 93 to build it up. make sure you have the right ratio. if you go too high you can burn a hole through your piston. too low and your ro0bbing performance
Over 3 years ago Location: WA
Anything above 13:1 you really need a higher octane. A 14:1 ratio requires 100 octance gas, anything above the average rider cannot tell the difference. So a 10.25:1 you are absolutely fine with pump 93.
