i have used every aftermarket clutch kit and for the price i think the driven sets are great quality and durable clutch set, i am using these in 2 different bikes and they work great.

This is completely up to the rider. Depending on the condition of the clutch components, I would lean towards suggesting the complete clutch kit.

If you race or go on slow trail rides where you are slipping the clutch a lot then go for the performance if those don't apply the regular clutch will do just fine.

I've heard that i should pre-soak my frictions and steels in oil is this true and what kind of oil should i use?

Yes, your going to want to soak the plates in oil. Normally you would just use the same oil you plan on putting back into your bike. Check you manual for oil recommendations.

Presoak them overnight in the transmission oil and make sure to use the oil you soaked them in and top off if necessary.

yes, but you should be changing your oil evry other or every third ride. It's cheap insurance.

These are actually a really nice clutch kit, and for the price you can't beat it. Unfortunately these kits do not include the clutch cover gasket, those are sold separately.
