'12 CRF450R WC Radiator Braces Installation

These are a great product to help protect your expensive radiators from damage during falls. Racing in the desert, these save you a fortune! Here is my breakdown of the product specifically for owners of '09-'12 CRF450R models.

Ease of Installation:
3 stars. You'll need a hand drill and 1/4" drill bit but I recommend a unibit since they drill nice round hole through sheet metal. Normal bits can leave triangular holes. These braces do require some changes to your bike. The upper radiator tab on the 450R does not have a hole. The lower does which the radiator shroud mounts to but the top will need to be drilled. Not a big deal but follow the instructions carefully and make certain you have the guards fitting snug to the radiators before you mark the hole location otherwise the guards will not fit correctly. Also, you will more than likely have to trim your stock radiator shrouds to get them to mount flush which was done easily with a new sharp razor blade.

Style: 5 stars. They look terrific when installed correctly.

Durability: 5 stars. They aren't indestructable, but they definitely help.

Performance: 5 stars.

So far so good.

I haven't had any bad wrecks but I have tipped the bike over in turns and such and everything is still straight. Bolted right up too.

Must Have !

If you Ride MX you need these. You will literally rip off the radiators for the first time you take a hard spill. These strengthen the mounting and do a decent job of protecting the front, rear, and sides of the radiators.

The Works Connection braces are designed only to fit with stock tanks. While they may work with some aftermarket tanks, Works Connection does not test them this way so fitment cannot be guaranteed.

I don't know why works connection didn't make a set for that bike, but they do offer the radiator cage setup. Probably has something to do with mounting points available.

They for sure did not line up on my 2007 RMZ450. I can't say for all bikes that they won't work, but the top eyelet was about 1/2 inch off on mine, and I returned them.

I do know that people have used them in conjunction before but sometimes it may take a little tweaking or cutting of the inside of the shroud.
