Good so far

so far so good, could feel the power difference. I ride a 2006 ktm 250 sxf. the only problem I had was with the cam chain tightener. if you are reinstalling one of them make sure you follow instructions on line.. you can do some real damage to your bike if its in wrong. there is a set of steps to follow to preload the spring before instillation. Good luck

Don't Make A Mistake

I have talked to many people who have paid big bucks for a tricked out piston, only to find it unbalanced the motor, or alters the power too radically. These pistons have developed a good reputation as reliable pistons, close to OEM specs.

Impressed!

got this piston for my crf250 and planned on it only lasting me a few hours 40 hours later on it still running strong and showing no sign of wear. plus it was super easy to install and anyone with some mechanical knowledge can do it. Highly recommend vertex!

Q: 2012 Honda CRF250R Compression question?
While I was on Vertex's website looking at all the different piston options, they only sell 13.2:1, 14.1:1 & 14.6:1 compression ratio pistons for the stock bore size. My question is your website says its 13.6:1 for the high compression piston when Vertex don't even make one currently. So is it a typo error?

A: Yes for your 2012 Honda CRF250R the High Compression Piston Kit (23561B) would be 14.1:1 compression ratio.

Q: Bore size?
1 year 7 months ago
So it says to measure the clearance of my cylinder before ordering to get the right size.. Do they sell a kit with different size Pistons if mine is out of clearance or do I have to bore or replate my cylinder to replace the top end?

A: Both Vertex and Wiseco do not offer a 13.8:1 ration piston kits. If you would like to set it up to stock specs you can find the stock OEM parts in the OEM section here:

Q: I need a piston that will last like an OEM piston , will this kit with the cilinder works be reliable?

A: The Vertex Pistons are very high quality and should be just as reliable as stock pistons with proper maintenance such as regular oil changes. The Cylinder works cylinder are pretty good but typically I prefer the OEM cylinders as the Nikasil coating seems to last longer. Depending on the current state of your stock cylinder, it can be re-plated by a company such as Millennium Technologies. If you send your piston in with the cylinder, they match the thickness of the coating to the piston for a perfect cylinder to piston fit.

A: The compression ratio will depend on what model bike you have. This Vertex kit will have the same compression ratio as your stock piston.
