Product Description

10 years of pushing the envelope, of going above and beyond. A decade of creating technologically advanced products designed by and for the needs of the street rider: you. The Airmada™ is the end result of all of Icon's hard-earned experience in an industry that doesn't tolerate second best. This is Icon's highest evolution of helmet craftsmanship and you'll realize this from the moment you take off.

The first thing you'll notice is the new low profile shell, which now comes in four separate sizes to better fit a variety of riders. The energy absorbing dual-density EPS liner uses the rider-preferred oval head form and comes in a further five sizes to offer a personalized fit without an ounce of wasted space. The effort to reduce the helmet size combines with the tough polycarbonate shell to create a helmet that fits better, is ridiculously light, and still maintains the exclusive ALL WORLD STANDARD of Icon to suit your riding style.

With fit and function in mind, the designers of the Airmada™ focused on bringing rider comfort to a new level. The Airmada™ keeps you cool when the pace heats up. The SuperVent™ system has been completely revamped with even more effective ventilation and exhaust porting across the helmet. The new Ventral Primary™ intake improves the Airmada's™ cooling airflow in ways other helmets can only dream of, and long nights were spent improving the ergonomics and function of the venting controls. Designed and positioned to make on-the-fly adjustments quick and easy, the Airmada™ is built from the ground up to offer perfect comfort for any riding condition.

Even the shield system has been completely redesigned to give riders the best view of the road ahead. The new Rapid Release™ shield removal system allows you to change an Icon Optics™ shield in a fraction of a second. This cutting-edge system allows you to select the right shield for the conditions, all of which produce an unrivaled distortion-free line of sight to what lies ahead.

The Icon® Airmada™ once again sets the standard for the ideal street helmet.

Great helmet

I recently had a cheap hjc helmet. So this one was a big upgrade. It fits nice and snug for an extra large. It has the lid lock which is great. Ive drove my bike four times with this helmet as of this writing and no problems to report. Def worth it!

Airmada rubatone- great buy for the money

after riding with the hjc cl-14 size large that came with the bike (sv650s) for a few months, i realized that it was too big; strong side winds would rotate it almost 45 degrees and block my view. my head measured on the small side of medium so i ordered an airmada medium, primary reason being that it had a medium oval head shape. my head is like an egg shape with a longer front to rear than side to side. and i have a protruding noggin in the back. first time i pulled this out the box, i thought it looked way too big on the outside to be a medium, hardly looked different from my large hjc. but then when i tried pulling it on, i thought my ears were going to get damaged. then i could hardly get it off. but after a week of using it (painfully), it started to get more comfortable and now its been 4 months and its still snug but comfortable, although i probably should get smaller cheek pads. at full highway speeds and above, a hugh difference in buffeting and cross winds. also, i cant really tell much of a difference in weight by hand, but it makes a huge difference on the head, on the highway, doing 70-80mph, for an hr or two. and despite being so snug, its not that much quieter. the ventilation is a whole lot better, especially at low speeds. as for looks, i still think it looks huge on the head, makes me feel like Spaceballs. but i guess its all necessary padding to meet all these new international standards. oh and one more thing, i wish the shield lock wasnt so extremely rigid. im sure it'll stay in place though even in a severe impact. overall, id say it was money well spent for a quality helmet.

Very good Helmet

Its a very nice helmet. My one complaint is at certain speeds it makes a whistle sound from the vent whether they are closed or open. Other than that its a well rounded helmet.

LOVE IT!

I have an older Icon helmet and needed an upgrade. This one does everything it claims. I ride a Hayabusa and wind resistance is next to nothing, no lift at higher speed, no drag or wobble when I turn my head to check lanes, and the airflow design under the viser keeps the wind from blowing up under my chin and into my face. My wife just bought a new Arai for over $500 on sale and still has a few airflow issues that I don't. Sizes do run small I think, I can wear a 1X in other brands but need a 2X because the Icon 1X is too tight. The new viser release is super easy and the venting system and fog resistance are great too, but in colder weather with the vents closed there is not much heat retention and it can get a little chilly on longer rides. I would highly recommend the Airmada helmets to anyone.

Australian Standard Sticker?
Hi, I am just wondering whether this helmet comes with an Australian Standard sticker on the back, as it is required by law here. Thanks.

The helmet may need to be purchased in Australia for it to have the Australian Standard Sticker on the back. The Helmet will show on the inside label that it meets or exceeds SAI AS1698 (AUSTRALIA).

Does this come with an AS1698 certification sticker if shipped to Australia?
The description does say this helmet meets or exceeds AS1698. But by law a helmet worn in Australia must have the AS1698 sticker.

No, the Icon Airmada Helmet will not come with the AS1698 certification sticker if purchased from an Icon dealer in the US. You will have to purchase the helmet from an Icon dealer in Australia.

Would I have to get a separate shield for night riding?
If I were to drive to work I would use the dark shield, but I don't get off work till after 10:00 pm. Would I have to get a different shield or does this one change to a clear one when there isn't much light out??
MotoSport Staff
Over 10 months ago Location: Portland, OR, USA
For this helmet you would need to purchase a separate clear shield for riding at night. Unfortunately this is not a light sensitive shield and does not change shade based on lighting condition. With icons new shield system, shield changes are quick and easy allowing you to change shields to match the conditions your are riding in.

Best Value?
Love the icon line of helmets, but I am new to the street biking world. Is THIS helmet a better bang for you buck vs. the $275 Airframe. but wanted something nicer than the alliance... Thoughts? can anyone post a pic of the rubatone helmet with a blue shield? not sure how that would look?

After checking with some places to verify customer feedback it seems like most customers who have had both prefer the Airframe or Variant versus the Airmada. The main difference between the Airframe and the Airmada is the shell construction. The Airframe is constructed of fiberglass, Dyneema, and carbon fiber which cuts weight and is also proven to help distribute impacts better. The Airmada is a polycarbonate or basically a plastic shell. Other than that, they both do meet the minimum safety requirements, and both have Hydradry moisture wicking, fully removable liners. Personally I wear the fiberglass helmets due to the ability for them to help spread the impact over a larger area, so I would personally go with the Airframe.

Is a medium sized Icon Airmada helmet going to fit more snuggly or loosely than a medium HJC?
MotoSport Staff
Over 11 months ago Location: Portland, OR, USA
Typically with helmets, if you wear a medium in one brand, then you will wear a medium in other brands. The issue lies in head shape and how much it will vary from person to person. Each helmet manufacturer will construct their helmet around a slightly different shaped mold. Without trying the helmet on, there is no way to guarantee the fitment. When helmet shopping I do suggest trying on multiple models from multiple companies. This will allow you to find which one will fit your head the best, rather than relying on the companies sizing charts to fit the helmets. This will ensure a much more comfortable ride for you and better protection.

Yes the shields that you ordered were correct for the ProLock system. The "Optics" line of shields is specific for the Airmada helmets with Pro lock.
