I bought this vest in the hopes it would provide some rib and chest protection. When i took it out the box i wasn't very impressed, it's very light weight with a lot of mesh. HOWEVER, after about an hour, i didn't even realize i was still wearing it! Great addition to a chest protector that offer no rib protection. Overall, pretty good product.

To me this isn't a stand alone product for chest protection but works great with a light chest and back protector like the EVS F1. It's very light weight and breathable and the location of the pads are spot on. I think the BP3800 is a well designed piece and the plates for the ribs and chest are more substantial that I was expecting. The hard shell seems like it will preform well when impacted and the soft under-padding should disburse energy very well. Lets face it most chest and back guards leave the ribs exposed and this is a vest that can add needed protection where it's needed. Great product for the right use and person!
First the construction is excellent, and for me 6' 150lbs the fit was spot on. The material stretches well, so Im guessing it would fit larger riders too. If you are looking for the absolute minimum protection to wear under a jersey, look no further. If you want any type of substantial protection keep shopping. the padding is very thin, on the gray areas of the front of the vest I can run my finger across the padding and count my ribs. The center padding is a bit stiffer, but still thin. There is no padding at all on the back of the vest. the sides protection is minimal. Padding in area of neck brace can be removed. I kept the vest just to wear under a plastic roost guard for slight extra protection. this vest is better suited for sliding into home base than to take roost or an mx crash. Excellent design, poor protection.
Awesome! fits great can't even feel it on. Haven't had the pleasure of going down with it on yet, but it definitely helps protect agains roost.
I just got the Troy Lee Shock Doctor protector in today and I was very disappointed. It has almost no protection except for a few really thin foam pads. Surely someone makes a better one for the money.
