I love this kit!

I've had this kit on for a little over a year and a half and it's still holding up excellent! I'm astounded on the durability and life of these sprockets and will definitely be getting a new set for this up coming season.

Good reliable product

The chain is standard roller chain and sprockets are steel. Not very pretty but very reliable. We run 2 sets of chains - after a ride chain is removed for an oil bath and replaced. These chains do stretch quite a lot so monitor your tension closely.

Sun Star Chain & Sproket Set

I called Moto sports to ask about their Chain & Sprockets combination set. I was originally going to order the aluminum set for more $$$! The customer service person told me, the steel sprocket will last longer. Not only did he answer my question, he saved me money. I like the fact, I can call a company and get new information. Because, lets face it; we all know it all, right? NOT, at least I don't. The prices are spot on, the quality is super. Plus, you have Brett Cue! One day, he will be a Legend! Among the motorcycle Gods of the Whip! I really enjoy the Youtube video's by the way! Keep up the great customer service! Matt

Great combo

gave 4 stars on style because it would be nice to have a different color on the back sprocket, other than that its a great combo and the sunstar sprockets have always done well with durability on any bike!

Quality chain/sprockets

Great quality, I've used them in the past over the years and not been disappointed. This is the first time for this chain, just installed so will wait on a true durability assessment.

Sunstar Sprockets w/ Renthal R1 Gold

Great combo of chain and sprockets. The steel lasts a lot longer than the aluminum and the renthal gold chain is the perfect pick to hold up with everything else! And it obviously looks good.

Q: Best setup for trail riding?
3 months 27 days ago
I have a 2008 YZ250F that has stock size sprockets (13/49). What setup would be best for trail riding? Would just increasing the number of teeth on the rear give me a lot more bottom-end power?
MotoSportExpert

A: Going up on the rear sprocket and/or down on the front will give you more bottom end. I would try going down one tooth on the front and If you still need more bottom end go up one or two teeth on the back.

A: It depends on the type of riding you are doing and what you are looking for. I personally have been running the DID ERT chain for many years.

A: Sorry we do not have sprockets available for your 1973 Hodaka model 95 combat wombat. I would contact Sprocket Specialties. They should be able to make sprockets for your bike.

A: Chain life will really depend on multiple factors, maintenance (how clean and oiled you keep your chain), riding conditions, bike, ect. I personally run the DID ERT2 chain and get a lot of life out of it. Its also a very strong chain.

Q: I have a Honda TRX90, would having larger than stock sprockets increase speed over hard surfaces?
1 year 2 months ago
The sprockets and chain need replaced, the chain keeps derailing at low speeds.
MotoSportExpert

A: For more top end speed you would want to go down on the back and/or up on the front. For bottom end you would go up on the back sprocket and/or down on the front. Feel free to give us a call at 888-676-8853 and we would be happy to help you out with your order.

Q: On the top of page it says pitch of 428 for xr100?
1 year 3 months ago
is that the same as Premium 420 Drive chain and Sprocket kit
MotoSportExpert

A: The 428 would be the correct size for the XR100, not the 420. 420 and 428 are not the same size. Feel free to give us a call at 888-676-8853 and we would be happy to help you out with your order.

A: Gearing would depend on what kind of riding you are doing and how the current gearing is working for you now. Stock gearing would be 14/51 and you may want to go up or down from there. Tire choice would also depend on the riding you are doing and the terrain (soft, medium, hard) that you are riding on. Feel free to give us a call at 888-676-8853 and we would be happy to help you out with your order.

Q: I got a 2002 Honda xr100. what size chain should I get?

MotoSportExpert
MotoSport Staff Expert
1 year 6 months ago
A: It would depend on what size sprockets you are running. If you are going larger than the stock 14/50 I would suggest going with the 130L. If you are going with stock or smaller gearing the 120L chain should do it.
