Had doubts about going Twinring, but glad I did. Quality, and looks are on point! Have never had a completely round sprocket, but this one was very close. Not much change in tight spots. Weight was noticeable in the hand, but not enough to be concerned.

We always use Renthal bars and sprockets on our race bikes. We have never had issue with the full aluminum rear sprocket, but switched to the Twin Ring Rear Sprocket this time in an effort to improve on already excellent durability. I anticipate great results with the steel outer ring.

I love Renthal chain wheels. I bought this twin-ring set to increase durability. It replaced their T6 aluminum alloy product that I had run for a couple of seasons. And I can't believe how little wear there is on the all aluminum alloy wheel. Really fantastic. Twin-ring should outlast me.

Highest Quality, Longest Lasting

I have run Renthal chain & sprocket set ups on dozens of different off-road and road bikes over a 25 year racing, riding, testing and tuning career. At times I spend upwards of 100 days per year riding off road, and I ride a street bike in place of a car most days. I have built a number of race winning and championship wining machines over the years as well.
Firstly, When you replace your chain and sprockets you should always do so as set. This ensures the best longevity and performance from your drivetrain. This is because the chain and sprockets wear together, and by replacing one component, but not the others, this accelerates wear for all the components, both new and old. In the case of these Renthal items, their high tensile strength chains and specialy machined hard anodized sprockets last longer (with proper lubrication and adjustment) than any other set up I have ever used over my very long riding-racing career. I reccomend Renthal full aluminum sprockets and non O-Ring R1 Works Chains for MX and sprint Racing. This is because in MX and sprint Racing these are the lightest, strongest components available, and therefore rob dthe least power from your drivetrain and provide the least possible unsprung wieght . This paticular set, with Renthal Works O- ring chain and Twin Ring Steel Teeth-Hard Anodized Aluminum inner is for a high use off road Endurance Set-up on a YZ450. For offroad and road race Endurance racing, long duration training rides, and all Streetbike applications, the Twin Ring is the way to go because it offers unmatched lightness combined with incredible durabilty and toughness. This YZ450 routinely sees 50 miles of sand, rocks and desert riding per fuel tank, and 100 miles per day is not uncommon. The twin ring set up will last for at least 100 hard run race-practice days and many, many hours. This is the set up I reccomend for recreational riders because the long life saves you a ton of money, and if properly adjusted and lubed will last most riders several seasons and will out last other aluminum chain sprocket combos by several times, all while wieghing a fraction of what other steel set ups wiegh, meaning you are not losing power by using aheavy steel sprocket drive line set up. It is important to note this set will be lubed after the chain and sprockets are warmed with Maxima Clear chain lube which is another important step and good tip. You should get into the habit of lubing your chain at the end of every ride when the chain and sprockets are nice and hot. This allows the lube to penatrate best, and then "set up" as driveline cools.This helps prevents most of your lube from flying off and ending up on your rear wheel, which is what happens when you lube cold right before you ride. Have fun and keep the rubber side down.

The screws that hold the outer part of the sprocket to the inner part of sprocket come loose and fall out. Got about three rides out of this sprocket and noticed that there was only four screws holding it together Would not recommend

Looked pricey, but is well worth the money!!!

This combo is high quality! Get the Tag replacement bolt kit to go with this set. They have a larger allen key holes and look great. They should be included in this combo. I opted to upgrade to the Renthal 520 R3 O-Ring chain. This set is on my 07 CRF450R with stage 2 cam and High compression piston. I have put about 40 miles of hard trail ridding on it so far with lots of clutch and throtle action. I have not had to adjust my chain tention yet and no sign of wear on th sprockets at all. Remarkable in my book.

2005 CRF250R - This is the setup to use!

Renthal chain is a little heavier than the DID non o-ring (Honda manual), but it does not streatch like the DID. I also found the Renthal chain matches these sprockets better than any other. I race hare scrambles and get all kinds of debris mixed between the spockets and chain, but this setup has worked out to be the best I've tried. Somewhat self clearing and is durable. Clean it after your ride, hit it with a water dispersant (WD-40), when the bike is finished drip drying, lube the chain with your favorite non sling. For me it is definitely worth the money.

A: For more top end you would want to go up 1 tooth in the front and/or down 1 or 2 teeth on the rear from stock gearing (14/50).

Hey, I have an XR650R and my stock chain had 110 links with 14/47 gearing but Renthal only offers a 120 link chain with the 14/47 sprockets. Will the larger chain still work alright? Otherwise I found a Renthal street chain on Amazon with 110 links, should I go with the street chain?

A: The chain's come in 120 links to allow for the many different gearing options and bikes. You will just need to cut it down to fit. A chain breaker will push the pin out or you can grind the top of the pin off and the chain will pull apart. Just make sure not to cut it too short.

A: You will likely only notice a small difference in top speed going just one tooth up on the rear sprocket. You will likely notice the bike accelerates to the top speed quicker but the overall top speed of the bike won't change drastically.

A: Gearing is completely a personal preference. First i would ask whether you want more acceleration and to tighten the gears up, or do you want to spread the gears out and have them pull farther. By running a 14/50 you would slightly shorten the gearing up. This means you will gain a some acceleration but will need to shift sooner. The most common gear ratio for average tracks is a 13/49 combination on the 2009 KX250f.

A: Dewey, the 14 front has the effect of making the bikes gearing taller. In fact for each tooth you raise or lower on the front sprocket, it is aproximately equal to 3 tooth change of the rear sprocket. So, your 14 tooth sprocket in front is like dropping your rear sprocket 3 teeth. Since you want to run a 50 in the rear, which is 2 teeth shorter than stock, your net change from stock 13/48 will be a gearing set up that is slightly taller than stock. For a very detailed gearing setup guide I reccomemd a website called gearingcommander. Com. It is a non-profit site put together by bike engineers and allows you to see the results of any gearing and chain changes you may wish to make with a number of graphs and charts. Youcan plug your year make and model in and then enter differnt gear options in the data fields.

A: Yes you can use the stock hardware to attach the sprocket to your hub. It is recommended to replace the hardware when changing sprockets though due to high stress they endure. There are after market sprocket bolt kits that are reasonably priced for a new set of hardware.

A: The X-ring chains really are the top of the line style chain. There are also Z-ring chains but is debatable as to which is better. O-ring chains with a single wide point of contact will tend to last a little longer but have much higher friction than the X-ring or Z-ring chains. One of the best X-ring chains out there is the DID ERV3. Incredibly high quality chain that you cant go wrong with.

A: My reccomendation for this type of high power setup is Renthal Twin ring, Renthal Steel Front, matched with Renthal Works O-Ring chain. These chain sprocket kits are all machined to work together, there are special chamfers on the matched Renthal chains and sprockets that deliver the best life. Make sure you replace chains and sprockets as a kit, and always lube them hot, right after your ride, so that the lube penetrates best and the cools off and "sets up" on your chains and sprockets. This will keep your lube from flying off when you ride, as happens when you lube the chain cold, right before you ride. If you did not remeber to lube after your last ride, no worries. Take the bike for a 10 minute ride to warm up the chain-sprockets, bring it back, lube it well, and then let it sit for 15 minutes or so.

A: I think you are asking about the actual steel teeth on the rear sprocket. If so, I don't think it is sold separately. You can purchase the rear sprocket assembly separately without having to buy it in a kit that would include the chain and front sprocket. Hope this helps.
