D.I.D 520 ATV X-Ring Chain - 100 or 110 Links:

The D.I.D X-ring is superior to other types of O-ring designs; it has half the power loss and 1.5 to 2 times the wear resistance of a normal O-ring chain. D.I.D's patented X-ring construction reduces friction by twisting between the side plates instead of being squashed. Normal O-rings and other makers' modified O-rings have squashed points that increase friction. The twisting action of the X-ring disperses the pressure and minimizes power loss. The X-ring's four contact points greatly increase its sealing performance. This keeps the dirt out and the lubrication in much better than any other O-ring. X-rings have the greatest wear resistance of any other type of O-ring or non-O-ring chain.

  • Uses a special steel alloy designed specifically to provide the extra strength required for quad racing.
  • Features the same low friction, long wearing X-ring technology as D.I.D's VX, ZVM-X, ZLV, and ERV chains.
  • The ATV X-ring chain is engineered to create additional pockets to lock in grease to prolong the life of the chain.
  • Solid rollers.

D.I.D 520 ERV3 X-Ring Chain - 120 Links:

The D.I.D ERV3 X-ring chain is the ultimate high-performance, lightweight, low-friction race chain available and is used extensively by many off-road race teams. The ERV3 X-ring chain utilizes D.I.D's patented X-ring technology which reduces friction by 50% over standard O-ring chains for minimized power loss. The pins on the ERV3 X-ring chain have been put through a patented heat-treatment process to produce a pin that is 1.5 times harder than conventional pins. The result is a chain that is significantly stronger and offers better wear resistance than many other chains on the market. D.I.D ERV3 X-ring chains feature a gold-plated finish that resists rust and adds a little style to your motorcycle or ATV.

  • Exclusively designed for motorcycle racing.

Renthal 520 R4 ATV Z-Ring Chain - 100 or 110 Links:

Renthal's R4 ATV Chain is a premium strength Z-ring chain with excellent impact load resistance, designed specifically to withstand the stress found in ATV applications. The R4 chain features a heavier duty construction process and materials than the standard Renthal R3-2 O-ring chain which increases its service life and tensile strength. The patented "spring effect" Z-rings guarantee constant lubrication for longer life and pins manufactured from special alloy steel also contribute to better resistance from wear. Thicker side plates and a quad riveting manufacturing process round out the upgrades on this ATV-specific chain.

  • Patented Z-ring seals dramatically increase the life of the chain.

Renthal 520 R3 O-Ring Chain - 120 Links:

Renthal's R3-2 O-ring Chain is a high-strength sealed-ring chain with excellent impact load resistance designed specifically to withstand the stress found in off-road applications where an O-ring chain is desired. This chain is the choice where a combination of high strength, light weight and maximum power transfer are important considerations. The O-rings help extend chain life by retaining the special vacuum-injected grease near the critical pin area. Chain comes pre-stretched to shorten break-in period.

  • Nitrile O-rings extend chain life by retaining special vacuum-injected grease inside the chain joint.
  • Shot-peened alloy steel side plates for high tensile strength and maximum impact load resistance.

  • 120 links.
  • Note: The Renthal R3-2 chain is supplied with both an easy-fit split master link and a superior solid-pin rivet master link which matches the durability of the chain.

Note for installing X-ring chains: As X-ring chains are wider than standard roller chains, when fitting an X-ring chain to a motorcycle that was fitted with a non O-ring chain as original equipment, it is essential to check that there is proper clearance of the engine cases near the countershaft sprocket and any other places of close contact. Failure to do so could result in damage to the chain and motorcycle and could ultimately cause the chain to fail.

I require more speed and power as I do flat track racing any suggestions on what size sprockets for the front and rear?

A: For more top end you would need to go down teeth on the rear sprocket and/or up on the front sprocket. For more bottom end you would go up on the rear and/or down on the rear. I would suggest talking with some of the racers you are racing with at the track to find out what gearing is being used and working the best.

What size sprocket should I get and do I need the Renthal Oring chain because I mostly do pretty tough trail riding?
budswr400
4 months 7 days ago Location: NE
A: If you like the factory gearing stick to that by ordering for your bike and as long as you keep the chain cleaned and lubed you can use whatever type you want, as far as o-ring chains the constant dust and dirt of a track would be more important to keep it somewhat sealed. I ride trails and use the non o-ring type with no problems.

A: Stock gearing for your 2014 Honda CRF150R would be 15 front and 50 rear. track conditions, style of track, personal preference, rider size, ability and riding style will all contribute to determining the best gearing for you. For some riders and tracks stock gear may work great, others may want to go up on gearing and other down on gearing. Over 8 months ago
A: That is not a very common issue, we would need to know more about the situation to try and determine what caused it. Did you replace the sprockets bolts? It is recommended that the sprocket bolts and nuts be replaced. I personally replace them any time I remove the sprocket. Generally what can happen when re-using the lock-nuts is they will start to loosen causing the sprocket to move under torque, breaking teeth or the sprocket. Sometimes even the hub can break. Also chain tension or other worn or broken parts on the bike. Riding offroad it is possible for sticks or rocks to cause this. Please give us a call at 888-676-8853 so that we can get more information to help determine the cause.

A: For more bottom end you need to go up on the rear sprocket and/or down on the front sprocket. How many teeth you go up or down will depend on your current gearing, what type of riding you are doing and how much bottom end you want/need. Stock gearing on the 2001 Yamaha YZ250 was 14/50. Also, feel free to give us a call at 888-676-8853 and we would be happy to help you out with your order.

A: 13/49 might be a little too low but it would be hard to say for sure. Below are some gearing calculators that will help you out but really to find the best set up for your weight, riding style and riding ability it can take a little testing to find out what works best for you.
