A really good purchase!

I put this on my 2008 400ex, and All i have to say is i would recommend this to all my friends, even though a good bit of people on here say they had problems with velcrow and durablity, i had no problems at all! It doesn't even restrict air flow at all!

Great for sandy inviroments

Here it is Its a lot easier to clean this than an air filter and it keeps sand out of your engine, I raced in the desert and rode Pismo and this keep the grains out of the intake and a quick wash

Does what its supposed to but it is fragile

This product works great and really only has one downfall. It is very fragile. When installing it around the airbox the edges can be ripped easily. To me it is something I just realize i will need to replace more often. The price should reflect that or the company should design the edges to be a little more durable. Otherwise a very good product.

Works well

I seem to have no problems with mine on my trx450r. I did some modifications to my air box to make it easier to install but it was not nessesary. I noticed it's easier to install if I just take the air box off, that way it's in place perfect. It does what it's supposed to; keeps dirt and water out and with less junk going in the air box both the filter and air box stay cleaner

Doesn't fit

Worthless when you have to take your whole airbox off just to put it on or take it off. 09 z400

Works great!

This item works great! Once i got it to fit! It would not fit over the stock air box or the lid until i grinded the lid to almost a flat frame and forced it onto it! I haven't had to clean my filter since ive gotten this product and 3 of my friends are now ordering them! I recommend the product if you can get it to fit!

Good Purchase

Good product. I wanted this product because the stock air box is so restricting on my yfz 450. Just make sure you clean your box with rubbing alcohol and sand it a little bit. My velcro is coming off already because I didnt clean the air box very well.

Not that great

didnt work good on my dvx 400 as far a fitment goes theres not enough room around the air box to easily take it on and off also the velcro did not stick very good. i went and got the new No Toil air box lid that works alot better

TRX 450ER Outerwears Cover

Above average supplemental protection for people who run without an airbox cover. I race hare scrambles, GNCC, and occasionally MX, and this product helps lessen the amount of debris and water entering my airbox in really muddy and wet races. It still is no replacement for actually having a cover on your air box but is a great way to add a little extra insurance.

It really works

bought for a 05 trx 450, and it works great. Easy to install as well.

Ok on most outwears airbox lids they have the same shape as the box itself like plastic around the edges is this the same way... how does it stay on?

For stock Banshee, Raptor and Warrior airboxes, you must have an aftermarket kit that clamps filter in place. Otherwise the air box lid is necessary to hold the filter in place. The image is a generic image supplied by the manufacturer for reference only. It may not be displaying the exact part for your bike. Just be sure to correctly select the Year/Make/Model of your bike before ordering so we can be sure to send you the correct Outerwears Airbox Cover for your bike. Also, feel free to give us a call at 888-676-8853 and we would be happy to help you out with your order.

It has a one size fits all elastic piece that keeps it on. I have a 450r and it works great for me.

Will these go over top of a filter and protect them?

This actually would replace the stock airbox lid. It would allow more air flow and better protection from loose dirt, debris & water.

We also offer the Outerwears Pre-Filters that would go on the actual K&N style filter to protect it from dust, dirt and debris.

Yes it's an outer filter going over your airbox lid or filter depending what your application

Unfortunately this item does not have an application specific to your 2011 Raptor 250.

Does this fit over the K&N power lid?
Would this fit over the K&N power lid? If it can, should I put it over the power lid, or leave it as it is?

So does it just replace the airbox Lid?
Top 1000 Contributor
its the same thing that is the prefilter for a k&n air filter. it allowes you to remove your air box lid without having water, sand, or large chunks of dirt getting into your air box. if you do instal this you will have to rejet your carb or retune your fuel injection.

will it go over a K+N pewer lid set up?

You're better off running the power lid than this cover. This cover works basically the same as the power lid but without the filter element.

How does it perform in really wet conditions?
Such as harescrambles, GNCC type races, or just fast trail riding.
MotoSport Staff Expert
I would say for extremely wet conditions this wouldn't be something I would have on my atv. Due to this eliminating the airbox cover. Ideally this would be used in drier conditions with minimal risk, but water would be pushing it.
