Product Description

For over 40 years, Alpinestars has produced superior motocross footwear with a paramount commitment to protection, performance and style. The Tech 3 boot represents all of this commitment with an added level of accessibility unmatched by any boot. Ideal for beginners but more than suitable for experts, the Tech 3 offers maximum value and performance at this price point.

With its contoured TPU shin plate, reinforced leather rear plate and extended inside and outside guards, the Tech 3 provides some of the best external protection of any boot on the market. The internal shock-absorbing padding protects ankles, while Action leather and front / rear accordion panels allow for a great fitting boot with a low break-in time.

As with all of Alpinestars motocross boots, the Tech 3 is CE certified and features replaceable soles and buckles, to ensure maximum performance for many years.

  • The Alpinestars Tech 3 Boots are what you can expect from Alpinestars, high performance and loaded with functional features. The best feature of the Alpinestars Tech 3 Boots is the entry level price.
  • Protection on the Tech 3 Boots are what you can expect from a company like Alpinestars. They have installed contoured shin plate protectors which have been injection-molded with high-modulus polyurethane to provide substantial impact and abrasion resistance.
  • Alpinestars developed a patented "ankle-brace" system for the Tech 3 Boots for great ankle support. This system on the Tech 3 also provides ankle padding to reduce shock.
  • The sole of the Alpinestars Tech 3 Boots provides a rigid platform with the contoured, tempered steel shank that has been over-injected with a dual density rubber to provide tons of grip and give you sure footing.
  • The Tech 3 Boots have extended inside and outside plate guards to provide protection on the side and toe-box areas.
  • The Alpinestars Tech 3 Boots have an internal plastic reinforcement placed on the inside of the boot. This reinforcement provides rigidity to the boot for support. Thick stamped suede covers this up and provides contact grip and heat resistance. The calf plate also helps out with grip, support and side contact on the Tech 3 Boots.
  • Alpinestars uses reinforced leather up the back of the Tech 3 Boots, and their action leather on the upper section for durability. The instep flex-zone has also been stitched for additional support and durability.
  • The Tech 3 Boots will keep you strapped in with the four high impact resistant buckles that feature memory positioning and quick release buckles. Alpinestars uses VelcroŽ brand hook-and-loop attached to the elastic stretch PVC gaiter to seal the top of the boot and prevent water entry.
  • Alpinestars adds plenty of comfort features to the extensive list of protection features. The Tech 3 Boots use a poly-fabric lining in addition to a multi-density EVA foam keeping your feet cozy. If you require a special foot bed Alpinestars accommodates your needs with a removable anatomic foot bed.

You Get What You Pay For

I've had these boots for almost 2 years but only have actively ridden in them for about half the time. I am already having problems with them as they wear super quick. I already have a full blown hole forming in my right inside ankle due to kickstarting. Also, the buckles are starting to not be able to stay on. But if you want that Alpinestars look for a cheap price, then by all means go for it but it really is true what they say: You get what you pay for. Never going cheap on boots again.

Nice Boots

I recently got back into riding dirt bikes and needed a nice pair of boots. I looked at the Alpine Star Tech 3 and the Fox boots. I think for the money and Alpine Stars R&D these are the way to go. I have about 6 rides in them and they broke in only after 2 rides. I wear an 11 1/2 shoe and the size 12 boot fits great. The boot buckles are somewhat difficult to snap but other than that they are wearing nicely.

Tech 3 boots

I always loved the roomy feel and easy break-in of my older Alpinestars. I bought these for my son, and he had me try them out. Lot tighter in the ankle than older Alpinestars, maybe that's good but it felt weird to me. I'll try them after my boy finishes breaking them in :)

Worst Buckles Ever...

I've had my Tech 3's for about a year and a half now, and I have to say if it wasn't for the buckles they would be about my favorite boot. I get it that they are the bottom line boot, but these buckles are garbage. It's pretty irritating to get done riding and hope I will be able to get my foot out of the boot because one (or more) of the buckles decided they will not come undone. Then when I do get the thing snapped out, the part of the buckle on the boot has pulled out of the tab it goes into. Then I get to grab an allen wrench and pull it out...again. Other than that, the boots are great. They have held up well and are comfortable with very little break in time.

Good, but definitely not top of the line

For the money, these were the best boots available at the time. This is a lower end boot for A*, but it priced comparable to FOX, Answer, and ONeal, the others I evaluated and have experience with. This boot has held up pretty well to years of abuse. My only complaint, other than not being as comfortable as the higher end A* boots, is that my footpeg or kick-start punched a hole in the plastic on the inside of the right foot early on. I put some silicone in it and put the plastic back in place, so it doesn't leak water or anything, but was dissappointed that the material would've allowed it to happen. I'd still buy these over any of the similar priced competition anyday. Can't go wrong with AlpineStar. I used to have a pair of old Tech10's and there's no comparison to these 3's though. If you don't wear out boots fast, spend the money now and keep the 10's forever and you'll always be comfy and well-protected. Thes boots do allow too much rotation between the foot and calf IMO...

Sidi Boots are the BEST!

Don't waste your money on A-star boots. Sidi's are more comfortable and they last a long time. The buckles on Sidi boots blow the A-stars away too, they are much more user friendly. From a rider that knows first hand!

Great Boots at a Great Price

The tech 3's seemed to take a while to break in. Once they were more flexible the more comfortable they became. For just over $200 these are great boots for the price.

Decent boot - Absolute garbage for buckles

I bought a pair, always had problems with the buckles. I now have 3 broken buckles on one boot. So that tells me they have poor quality control. Wouldn't be a *huge* issue if I could get replacement buckles at a decent price. Did I mention you can't seem to get buckles anywhere. I've even contacted the factory. Last I knew I was *placed on a list* to get a set, but they are back ordered. This is evidently a very common issue with the tech 3's. Or rather once I went searching for this specific issue it popped up in a lot of places. Figures. So my primary riding boots have been out of commission for nearly 3 months. I wouldn't find this acceptable for a motorcycle part. For a boot it's inexcusable. Way to lose current and future customers. I have told all of my riding friends, riding groups, riding forums....stay away from Alpinstar at this point. - Steve Keener

If I wanted to where double pairs of socks and the shin and knee guards, do I have to order a size bigger?
I wear size 12 boots. Do I have to get 13s?

In my experience with Alpinestars they do run a bit large. I normally wear a size 12 shoes and prefer size 11 Alpinestar boots. I would say if you are looking to run thick or double socks with these you should be fine to stick with size 12.

My son needs the next size up from a youth 8, what would that be?
It looks like the largest youth size is 8, would the next size be an adult 9? Currently wearing Alpinestars T6s.

Yes, if your son is a Youth size 8 right now, the next size up would be the Adult size 9.

What boots are better, alpinestars tech 3, fox comp 5, the fly Racing maverick, or the Scott 250 boot? I want something flexible & narrow @ top.?

I prefer the Alpinestar brand boots. They are top notch quality and hold up very well. Alpinestars makes a lot of products, but specializes in boots so they have much more R&D in them for fit and safety compared to Scott and Fox which are not specific boot companies. The fit and finish from the stitching, down to the buckle system is all of a higher quality on the Alpinestar boots.

Both are great boots. I'd say the tech 3's for motocross and the gearne for offroad/motocross.
