Work well but not necessary

I brought these for my first tire change with black anodized rims. They work ok but the motion pro spoons were so good I didn't use them much. Maybe if I had super expensive rims I might reconsider.

Great product

Love these as they worked better then another version I got with the strings attached. Held up to the hard pressure from the tire irons I used and slid along easily when needed. Great to protect your expensive rims if you do it yourself!

Motion Pro Rim Shield II

I purchased these to avoid scratching the black rims on my yz. They did the trick and worked fine. Two to a pack worked fine, three of them would work better, but they did keep me from messing up my black rims.

Used on $800 custom Talon/Excel rim

Used these rim protectors on a very expensive hub/rim combination. Used to mount a Dunlop Geomax MX71 hard terrain (very stiff) rear tire on my CR500AF. As always, motion pro products performed great! Absolutely no marks on my brand new rim, and no pinched tube! Although mounting tire is certainly not one of my favorite things to do, the motion pro rim shields made it MUCH easier. Highly recommend buying two sets, (total of four) to insure total rim protection during tire installation....

Have you ever changed tires?

If you change your own tires and especially if you have anodized wheels, with Bib Mouse or Tubliss you NEED these. Order them, you can thank me later.

Why didn't I think of that.

Simple tool and very helpful. Keeps rims protected.

Save your money

I used these on a set of dirt bike wheels; although they are pretty thin it makes getting the intial lip of the tire over the rim a bit more difficult. I used to use pieces of thin plastic gallon milk containers cut up for rim guards which work better than these rim guards. I pitched them to the tool box after one wheel.

Perfect for Saving Rims

We used these to replace the tires on our son's KX65. They worked perfectly and no scratches on the rims. Highly recommended!!!

Rim Sheilds

If you have colored rims these are a must to help keep the scratches down. I have black rims and are able to keep the edges that way much easier with the protective shields, I use 4 of them to make a simple scratch free tire change. reasonable price and are very durable plastic, get some you will be very pleased with them.

High quality product

When I ordered the rim shields I really didn't know what to expect. I have had other rim protectors before. these things take a lot of abuse, and WILL HOLD UP!! My brother has used them as well, not one scratch on any of our rims. they ARE worth every penny!

Bulky but durable

Haven't actually used them because they are thicker than I would like them to be however they are not breaking anytime soon. They will work but will also make it more difficult to change your tire because of the thickness but should work once you get the hang of them

MotoSport Staff
A: These will work just fine on your 180/55/17 street bike wheel and tire.
1 year 10 months ago
A: May work on street bike wheels depending on the thickness of the rim flange. Rim shield will accommodate a 5/16 thick flange.

For street tire installation, make sure to have the tire balanced after tire installation.

A: Yes, I used them on my GSXR1000 which has a rear tire of 190/50/17 and no damage whatsoever! Moved around the rim real easy and took a lot from the tire irons and look almost brand new still.
