Q: Fitment onto original system?
2 years 4 months ago
Hi, Does this exhaust fit onto the original kawasaki system without having to cut or adapt it in any way, is the price for a pair of slip-ons and are they road legal? Thanks.

A: This is going to be universal a slip on, typically meant for custom applications. These will not be a direct bolt on and may require custom adapters from the head pipe to correct the size for these. Also the included mounting bands will not be specific to your bike, some custom modification may be required.

A: These pipes will come as a pair. Keep in mind that these pipes are a universal setup and not specific to any bike. They can be made to fit many bikes but you may need to modify the mounting brackets and the exhaust headers for proper fitment.

Q: Kerker slip on questions?
I am wondering if I purchase the Kerker universal aluminum slip ons, do I need to make any modifications to my 97 Kawasaki Concourse. I have the T stand on it and don't want to remove anything or have to modify anything, do they indeed slip on and just bolt on to the existing brackets or does something need to be removed or added? If so do you guys include the needed brackets and such? Also, I have no problem having work done on the carbs but do they need to be rejetted and if so do you guys sell the kits for that as well and any type of supported info needed? Lastly what kind of horse power (low end) would I get? I am not interested in getting much, the bike works fine for me as is just curious. Thanks, Bill Bates

These will not be a direct bolt on and may require custom adapters from the head pipe to correct the size for these. Also the included mounting bands will not be specific to your 1997 Concours either. Unfortunately I do not see any manufacturers producing exhausts for this model, so no matter which universal slip on you go with, it will require some customization to fit your specific bike. Anytime you modify the exhaust system there will jetting requirements. How much change will depend on exactly what you end doing with the exhaust and your location/elevation along with how your bike is currently jetted. Those factors will determine what jetting will be and unfortunately with so many unknowns, it is hard to say how much jetting change would be required.
