The IMS Shift Lever is a great way to upgrade your motorcycle with a shift lever that is designed to take the punishment of racing.

  • The shift contact point of the IMS Shift Lever has a spring-loaded pivot point built-in to fold in the event of the bike falling over or a close holeshot battle.
  • The steel construction of the shift lever produces an extremely durable product.

Great hard shift lever.

The shift lever was easy enough to install,it was a little short for me because I have such large feet but I got used to it eventually. Good price, really hard, good for desert riding.

IMS Diet

I was disappointed with the purchase of the IMS shift lever. While it fit ok, and has a nice rubber tip, it weighs twice as much as the stock shift lever weighs, and while I know a few extra ounces of weight won't even be noticed, still I'd like it to weight less.

Folding lever shifter at a great price

Sturdy unit, beefier than OEM at half the cost.

Tough

This shift lever is much heavier than the last one that was on the bike. Don't have to worry about bending this one. Fit was great.

Great

It had a very very tight fit( my guess because of the paint in the threads) but once i got it on it was very easy to crank tight. It came loose after one ride, not very much but enough where it needed another crank to tighten it. (again i think because of the paint in the threads) but once i tightened it again it has stayed tight ever since

OK

Purchased 2 of these and the first one was fine. The spring on the second one broke within a few days of receiving it.

Horrible Quality

Once i got the correct position on the lever I began to tighten the bolt and it snapped almost immediately. The bolt was no where near being tight enough to hold the lever up to support shifts, i had to actually pry the product off just so i could throw it away, hopefully it didn't damage the teeth on the shaft...

Yes you should have no problem running this IMS Shift Lever on your 1985 Honda CR500 with Boyesen cover. Just be sure to correctly select the Year/Make/Model of your bike before ordering so we can be sure to send you the correct lever for your bike. Also, feel free to give us a call at 888-676-8853 and we would be happy to help you out with your order.

Shift Lever Removal?
I bought one of these shifter for my son's crf100f and I can't seem to remove the old one from the bike. I have removed the bolt but, cant get the shifter off the spline. Can anyone help me with this? I have searched the internet far and wide with no success. All I can find is how to remove the shifter spindle but, I would still need to remove the shift lever before I could even perform that step if necessary. any help is much appreciated.

Once the bolt is removed the shift lever will usually slide on and off the shaft easily. You can try prying open the clamping area of the shifter but you really shouldn't have to. I have seen before where the splines on the shaft had been damaged so instead of replacing the shaft they tack welded the shifter to the shaft (not a good idea).

Can I replace the spring?
The spring broke after a fall and I was wondering if I can buy a replacement spring for it.

Does this come with the bolt as well? Or do I have to order it separately?

How would i know this is gonna clear the crank case?
MotoSport Staff

MotoSportExpert
If you profile your bike correctly when placing the order, you will get the correct shifter specific for your bike. It will have the correct bends in it to clear your crankcase. This is not a generic shifter and will require you in your case, to profile your bike as a 2001 YZ125 in order for you to receive the correct shifter.

yes this will be the same size as the stock lever, but I would recommend going to the hammerhead lever with different size tips. I have switched to that one now.

Hardened steel. Very hard to bend but protect it from the weather. Steel does rust.
