IMS Shifter lever

Installed new IMS shifter lever on my son's CR125. Nice tight fit, high quality construction, haven't got a chance to try it out yet.

Great aftermarket option.

Love this lever. Its steel vs the stock aluminum so in the event of a hard crash it bends instead of snapping off. Just bend it back and keep riding!

Great hard shift lever.

The shift lever was easy enough to install,it was a little short for me because I have such large feet but I got used to it eventually. Good price, really hard, good for desert riding.

IMS Diet

I was disappointed with the purchase of the IMS shift lever. While it fit ok, and has a nice rubber tip, it weighs twice as much as the stock shift lever weighs, and while I know a few extra ounces of weight won't even be noticed, still I'd like it to weight less.

Folding lever shifter at a great price

Sturdy unit, beefier than OEM at half the cost.

CowboyBam
Tough

This shift lever is much heavier than the last one that was on the bike. Don't have to worry about bending this one. Fit was great.

Great

It had a very very tight fit( my guess because of the paint in the threads) but once i got it on it was very easy to crank tight. It came loose after one ride, not very much but enough where it needed another crank to tighten it. (again i think because of the paint in the threads) but once i tightened it again it has stayed tight ever since

OK

Purchased 2 of these and the first one was fine. The spring on the second one broke within a few days of receiving it.

Horrible Quality

Once i got the correct position on the lever I began to tighten the bolt and it snapped almost immediately. The bolt was no where near being tight enough to hold the lever up to support shifts, i had to actually pry the product off just so i could throw it away, hopefully it didn't damage the teeth on the shaft...

Not tested yet.

Fantastic delivery time and in good condition. Haven't had the chance to test it on the track yet. It's been raining every weekend since I received my new IMS shift lever. Fits perfect on my 2001 Honda CR250.

Looked sturdy, but so did the ground.

First wreck this thing looked my a banana wrapped around my peg. But it was a 4th gear lay over so it was pretty hard on the lil thing.

Q: Could this shift lever fix my issue?
4 months 18 days ago
My problem with my 01 Honda cr125r is that the stock shift lever is very loose. I tried tightening the bolt underneath and it fixed it temporarily for only 2 minutes after I changed gears multiple times. after looking at it more it looks like the splines aren't threaded to the shift lever anymore. Tried finding splines on here but no luck. Could the problem just be the shift lever itself?

A: Its hard to say for sure without being able to see the splines on the shifter and the inside of the shifter itself. The shaft is steel and the shifter is aluminum so generally the softer, weaker aluminum will wear out or damage before the steel shaft. I would pull the shift lever off the shaft and inspect the shaft splines for damage or wear. You likely just need a new shift lever.

Q: Shift Lever Removal?
1 year 4 months ago
I bought one of these shifter for my son's crf100f and I can't seem to remove the old one from the bike. I have removed the bolt but, cant get the shifter off the spline. Can anyone help me with this? I have searched the internet far and wide with no success. All I can find is how to remove the shifter spindle but, I would still need to remove the shift lever before I could even perform that step if necessary. any help is much appreciated.

A: Once the bolt is removed the shift lever will usually slide on and off the shaft easily. You can try prying open the clamping area of the shifter but you really shouldn't have to. I have seen before where the splines on the shaft had been damaged so instead of replacing the shaft they tack welded the shifter to the shaft (not a good idea).

Q: How would i know this is gonna clear the crank case?
MotoSportExpert
MotoSport Staff
Over 3 years ago Location: Portland, OR, USA
A: If you profile your bike correctly when placing the order, you will get the correct shifter specific for your bike. It will have the correct bends in it to clear your crankcase. This is not a generic shifter and will require you in your case, to profile your bike as a 2001 YZ125 in order for you to receive the correct shifter.
