Quality at it's finest!

Very high quality boots! Hinges move smoothly very comfortable was even walking around in them with ease. The buckle work like a charm and seem to stay latched no issues with coming undone. Definitely a pro-level motocross boot and worth every penny. Only thing I think could be better is the toe box it's a little on the tight end but still pretty comfortable over all

Boots

If you have large calves like I do, the straps are to short and. I wear it on the last knot he.boots are narrow and about one size larger to accommodate my feet. All in all it's a durable product compared to other boots that I bought in the past. Have fun

Sg10

good boot for the price but if you ride 3+ times a week plan on just getting a season out of them they don't hold up. Other than that comfortable boot.

Great boots

I am on my second pair of these. My first pair lasted me ten years ridding year round. They finally broke down and started biting the top of my ankle. They broke in quickly and never noticed they where even on when riding. I laugh when other people are complaining about breaking in new boots. They feel less bulky than other $$$ boots when shifting and breaking. I do have wide feet and these felt great when trying them on. That's the actual reason I bought them in the first place. I haven't heard a bad thing about these from any of my fellow riders.

Excellent Boot at an affordable price!

Have been wearing Gaerne boots for years, including street riding and dirt. Every time I try a different brand, I get disappointed.
True fit, no break-in needed, comfortable and saved my feet and ankles during several nasty crashes.

Solid boot for the price.

Best boot I've owned so far. If you don't have the money for the 12 the 10 is perfect. Break in time basically one ride. The hinge feel is why I get these boots and the comfort is amazing. Easy to buckle. For the white cleaning is easy to get extra clean I use simple green. Overall an amazing boot definitely worth the buy.

Excellent service

Ordered these boots on a thursday with overnight shipping and they were at my door on friday as promised. They were a size too big for me so I had to send them back. I wear a 12 in all shoes and work boots. The 12 in these boots were too big. These boots do run a little big. Called Motosport and they were very helpful. Sent the boots back on tuesday of the following week. Motosport paid for shipping. They also overnighted my new pair, which were size 11, back to me free of charge. Boots fit very well, very comfortable. Havnt had a chance to ride in them yet but have heard great things. Very impressed with Motosports customer service and how they deal with customers.

Great alternative to SG12

If you want to save a few $$$ then the SG10 is a great alternative to the SG12. They are extremely comfortable, good feel on the brake and shifter, and almost zero break in time. These boots have exceptional support, and hold up well through the abuse of MX and XC riding. (this is my second pair) The only thing you really need to know is that they run a little large. If you are a 1/2 size person, definitely go a size down rather than up.

Love these boots!

I have been wearing Alpinestars for years. I was going to buy a new pair of Tec 7 boots but decided to try them on at the local dealer first. They were a bit uncomfortable with several digging points. Not to mention clumbsy buckles. Fortunatly they also had a pair of SG10 boots. They fit like they were made for my feet. Solid and comfortable. So of course I purchased them from Motosport (best price and no tax or shipping).
I have put about 400 miles of singletrack on these boots and I love the way they work. Grip the bike and pegs well! I can bend my ankle forward easily but also have excelent side support. The buckles are solid and a sinch to clamp and remove.
I will buy these again and reccomend to others!

My 1st boots.

It never occurred to me that I should have boots until my brother hurt himself badly on his sport bike and I started thinking about safety.

I bought these boots instead of the 12s because these go up to size 14 and I read that they fit wider than the 12s. My feet are WIDE wide. I measured and when I'm standing on tile in bare feet, they are 4 and 3/4 inches at the widest. My pair in size 14 fits pretty much perfectly. They seem to cut off a little blood flow when putting them on but ones I stand up it's perfectly fine. Fit and comfort is 5 stars.

Since these are my first boots I thought I'd pretty much have to learn how to ride over again. Actually, other than accidentally shifting to N instead of 2nd I'm having no trouble, again, with the big size 14.

First impressions were "my bike was made for these boots". The boots stick to the bike like magic. Now instead of being pulled around by the handlebars, I'm being boosted by the pegs.
Brake and shifter feel is also better than I was led to expect from reading about boots, and is not a problem at all, even though I've only rode ones with them so far.
These boots boosted my confidence on the first ride even though I was expecting the opposite. I have better grip and control and I'm not scared about the pegs hurting my feet anymore. My bike feels like it has less power just because how much easier it is to ride.

I read that the bolts can come out and when I look at the boots I suspect that they might. I'll be checking tightness often so that I don't lose any critical parts or bolts.

I'd recommend these boots to anyone, especially to those with big and wide feet like me. Also, anyone who is considering buying boots, you do in fact need them. MX boots is as big a difference and any bike mod will ever be. I highly recommend these boots!

Gaerne SG-10 Boots

Excellent boot, very comfortable and easy to close clasps.

I can not rate the durability as the boots are brand new and it will take months of use to determine if they are durable. The same holds true for the Performance.

Thus far the boots are excellent and I am pleased with the fit and comfort of the boots. Lets see how they hold up to the summer riding season.

Q: How much do a size 13 Gaerne SG-10 weight in lbs.& oz's. I heard these are heaver than most other brands. What compared weight to other brands?
2 years 4 months ago
I am looking for a light weight flex boot where I can ride woods type Hair Scrambles & feel shift & brake levers What would you suggest brand & weight? I also use knee braces. How come mfg. don't inc. weight? How do I find weight of various boots w/out ordering them & weighting them at home?

A: Feel at the controls is moderate I would say, comparable to the Tech 7s. You will not have as much feel as with the SG12 or some other low profile boots but for a hinged flex boot this would be your best choice and is a great boot in my opinion. As for the weight unfortunately most manufactures do not provide the weight. I checked with Gaerne and they did not have an exact weight but said around 11lbs. Our scale shows 10.5lbs for a pair.

I have several pairs of boots that have good uppers but the soles are worn through. Are the soles replaceable? Can I do it myself or is a shoe smith required?

A: Yes, the soles are replaceable on the Gaerne SG-10 Boots. You will need to visit a cobbler near you to have them re-soled. Once applied, the cobbler will fit the sole properly with your boot.

A: Since Gaerne does not offer half sizes so I would say you would want to go with a size 11. If the size 11 feels a bit too large I would recommend adding another insole in the boot to help tighten them up for you.

Q: Are these good for a flat/wide foot?
I have flat and wide feet. Would these be more suitable for me than the Sidi Crossfires? I've heard that at least the toe box is wider on Gaerne, is that correct?
james718
MotoSport Staff Expert
Over 7 years ago Location: USA
A: I couldn' give you a comparison with the sidi's but i've worn the Tech-8's for years before switching to the SG10. The SG10 has a more relaxed fit than the tech-8's. Also, the SG10 accommodates wider calves. I have wide flat feet and would sometimes get sore arches with the tech-8, but with the SG10 i but in some custom footbeds for a little extra arch support and I've never had sore feet again. The Sidi's crossfire's seem to be really narrow in the toes and throughout the boot. but i've never rode with them.

A: The Tech-8's use an inner bootie and teh SG10 don't. the reason the Alpinestars hurt your ankles is because the support is built internally into the boot. As the boots break in, you'll notice they wont hurt your feet as much.

The SG10 have the hinge on the boot and are comfortable out of the box. But they don't have the inner bootie like the AStars.

A: I don't have Tech 8s, but I do have a steel plate in my right ankle, and these boots don't bother me. They are quit comfortable, but it all just depends on your perticular foot type I suppose.
