Excellent choice for woods/harescramble racing

Bike is a 2014 KTM 250SX setup for woods racing: OS tank, flywheel weight, geared 13/50. We were using a Factory Connection Platinum 2 which is a great pipe for MX but it lacked the mid-range power. This pipe provides near perfect power delivery using a Lectron carb and Boyeson reeds. The fitment of the FMF is way better also, in fact it fit perfectly. The FC pipe(we have 2) have always been more of process to install.

Awesome

Makes the KTM250sx like a tractor when paired with the mild PV Spring. The thing lugs without losing the quick power available on a two smoker.
Better low end, mid,
And top remained about the same.

Finish is durable, and the thicker steel makes for a better pipe. Took a digger that would've put a huge dent in the stocker, and I'm left with a small (dime sized instead of fist sized) ding.

Seals up better than the stocker. Only issue was having to zip tie the rubber sleeve between pipe and silencer. The fit was either just a little looser, or the sleeve got stretched putting the new pipe on/old pipe off.

Gnarly torque

The pipe fits great and you can really feel the difference in the bottom end torque, I paired it with an FMF Q Stealth spark arrestor silencer.

Great Service

I purchased this exhaust to replace a damaged ProCircuit pipe that was on the bike when I bought it. To be honest, the mounts for the FMF Gnarly didn't line up with my 1999 CR500AF, because it has a non stock, CR250 Aluminimum Frame. I called Motosports to discuss the issue and they were very knowledgable and willing to help. Turned out that I simply removed the mount on the FMF Gnaly, and the pipe fit really well without it. My point here is that the guy at Motosport was very helpful and willing to help, even though I didn't need it. Thanks for your help and service Motosport.

Best for the woods

with this pipe some new reeds, and proper jetting the old Honda feels like a ktm 300 and will out pull almost any 450f for the hole shot. the low end grunt is astounding. just dump the clutch and ride a low rpm wheelie up any hill.

Gnarly for 300xce

This pipe works well to add a little grunt to your bike. It is not huge gains but it does allow me to carry a higher gear up hills at lower speeds to reduce wheel spin. This is what I was trying to achieve with the installation of this pipe. I coupled it with Shorty silencer for maximum effect as suggested by FMF technical support.

Great pipe

Added bottom end power that I was looking for and is more durable than stock. The gnarly paired with the turbine core 2 helped my bike in the woods tremendously.

The pipe is very well built and will hold up great under extreme conditions. It mounted up nicely and the bottom end power was greatly increased, and it looks great too.

Fmf gnarly2 - stroke pipe

I have not had a chance to ride because of the snow but it is replacing a gnarly that was on the bike , but it got damaged from rocks during a race. I really like how it preforms on the bike. I think the combination of the pipe and a rear tubliss tube makes the traction just amazing.

Mostly top end improvement

Don't feel any low or mid change but more on top. Bolt holes don't line up with factory holes, took a lot of pushing and fine tuning. Wasn't impressed with FMF molds. Had to go to Ace hardware and buy bolts as it didn't come with any

Tough pipe

I purchased the gnarly pipe a month ago it's lived
up to expectations on my 2005 RM 250. It's a great enduro/trails pipe.
The pipe is definitely a huge improvement to the
stock pipe that I was constly denting up. I put a moose pipe guard on it for extra protection hopefully I can slow down the dents.

Wish everything was as easy

Great product, fit was suburb, looks great. It was the easiest part to install on the entire rebuild. The power delivery seems to be about the same but I'm still trying to fine tune the carb. It would be nice if there was an option for flat black, just seems a shame to destroy such a pristine finish.

Great pipe

factory KTM pipe got smashed first ride out. Gnarly pipe fit perfect and it's 2X's as thick and half the money compared to the factory pipe. A great buy and a must have if you ride the woods. Power is great too.

Great Pipe!

As with all FMF Pipes, this one looks great. It took a little work but when positioned correctly it fell into place. I could tell a notable difference in the sound. This pipe is quieter than the fatty it replaced. The power is very smooth with a great bottom end. Rode 50 miles of single and two track without a scratch.

Q: Is it necessary to rejet / adjust the carbie after fitment to get this lower rpm power?
1 month 3 days ago

A: Yes. You should always properly tune your bike after getting an aftermarket exhaust to allow it to run at its optimal level and give you the most performance. Failure to properly tune your bike will void your warranty.
Due to the variations that may come into effect when tuning an engine (i.e. pipes, intake, altitude, cams, displacement, standard or high compression pistons, etc.) we CANNOT offer jetting recommendations.
HwKennedy

A: You would have to adjust the jetting to compensate for this pipe-if you don't then it probably won't run smoothly.

A: Yes, you would have not problem matching the FMF Gnarly with the FMF shorty silencer. FMF designs their pipes to fit with their silencers.

Q: Will this fit my 97 kx250 ? And what kind of adjustments would I have to do after installing?

A: Yes. Just be sure to correctly select the Year/Make/Model of your bike before ordering so we can be sure to send you the correct pipe for your bike. Jetting changes would likely be needed. . It would really depend on your location (altitude/temperature) and how your bike is running with the current jetting. Jetting can be very tricky, there isn't one setting that will work everywhere with every bike. I would recommend taking your bike to a local motorcycle dealership’s service department to have your bike properly jetted. Also, feel free to give us a call at 888-676-8853 and we would be happy to help you out with your order.

Q: Cr250 2001 fmf gnarly and fmf shorty combo?

A: The FMF Gnarly pipes have been developed and tested for the off-roader in mind. With thicker 18g steel construction, it will take the punishment you can throw at it. This pipe will shift and increase the power band so that it comes on sooner, pulls harder through the mid and smoothes out the high RPM surge. This was once called the FMF Torque pipe, but it did not include the thicker steel construction.
There are a few differences between the shorty and standard length silencers depending on the model. Remember though, with 2-stroke tuning what you might consider a slight/small change has the potential of being a lot bigger than one might think. With the shorter length can and altered core size, FMF decrease the amount of backpressure in the muffler, which on a 2-stroke will increase throttle response and low to midrange power. Some models may see a slight decrease in over-rev though with the Shorty. The Shorty will give you more throttle response and low end power. Because it's smaller you'll see even more weight savings and a louder sound level.

A: I just put it on my 2005 RM 250 and I love it the bike has more low end drive now. The biggest thing with choosing a pipe is knowing the conditions you like to ride. I like single track stuff in the desert and woods so the pipe is made for those conditions.
