Quality Spokes good enough for a pro

These spokes should be installed on all bikes from the factory. They come with a splined nipple instead of the conventional square style. This will prevent you from ever stripping them out, and tool is provided. Excel makes some of the best wheels so you know your getting quality parts, do yourself the favor and spend the extra $. You won't be disappointed!

Better than expected

I didnt pay close attention when I purchased the spoke kit: I thought i was getting a normal set of spokes applicable to my needs. When I built my wheel I was really pleased with the improvements over regular spokes. They were easy to lace and durable when flexing into the rim holes. The splined nipples and corresponding wrench are the best idea since the wheel was invented! Buy these.

Laced and trued up to the excel takasago wheel pretty easy. Spline drive nipples make it easy to adjust w/out stripping too. They have stayed tight for 2 hrs so far!! GETEM!

Yamaha OEM compatibility?
Will these Excel spoke kits work with OEM 2006 YZ250 hubs or do they need to be drilled?
MotoSport Staff Expert

On your 2006 Yamaha YZ250, This spoke kit would work with your OEM hubs & from what I can tell they would work with the OEM wheels or Excel wheels as well (same spoke nipple size as OEM) there should not be any drilling required.

Witch kit do I need for a 95 rm250? can I buy just two sopkes?

You would need 19" spokes for the rear wheel on your 1995 RM250. For the front wheel on your bike you would need 21" spokes. These 18" spokes would be too short. Excel spokes are only sold in spoke kits and will only fit Excel wheels. The Pro Wheel 21" & 19" Spoke kits would work for your stock wheelw and hubs or there are spoke kits available under the OEM parts for your bike (http://www.motosport.com/dirtbike/oem-parts/SUZUKI/1995/RM250). Unfortunately, we do not have any individual spokes available for your 1995 Suzuki RM250.

According to Excel's fitment chart you can use the OEM KTM spokes with Excel Wheels. The stock KTM spokes are the same size as excel spokes and from what I know KTM's come stock with Excel Wheels so you should not have any issues using this spoke kit with your OEM wheels. Please note that the nipples are different for the spokes in the Excel spoke kit and will equired the Excel Spoke Wrench to adjust the spokes.

Where can I go to get a few spokes not the hole set?
Over 7 months ago Location: Fort Collins, CO, USA
The best way is to use Motosports OEM parts catalog. From there you can by a single spoke if you wish. So you know, its best to replace spokes in pairs, because you will often have to remove the one buddied up with the one needing replaced. If that one happens to strip at the nipple, your out of luck.

Unfortunately Excel spoke are not sold individually. If you need replacement OEM spokes they can be found in the OEM microfiche parts catalog here : http://www.motosport.com/dirtbike/oem-parts/HONDA/2005/CRF250R/REAR-WHEEL

Which OEM rims do Excel spokes fit?
Expert MotoSport Staff
technically all of them but some will require drilling of the rim and hub to make them fit. no way of telling if you have to or not though.

What does the 19" measure?
what exactly does that mean? the length of the spoke? and if so how do you know what size spoke i should buy? i know my tire dimension is 100/90-19 if that helps
Top 500 Contributor
Over 4 years ago Location: Austin, TX
It means they are for a standard 19" rim. 100/90-19 is a 19" rim 100 = Tread width 90 = Sidewall height 19 = Diameter
MotoSport Staff Expert
Over 3 years ago Location: Portland
You will need to enter your bike into the ride selector to get the correct 19" spokes for your 19" rim.

Do i need a special tool for these spokes. Because it says it is a spline drive, so would i need a special wrench?
MotoSport Staff Expert
Over 4 years ago Location: USA
This spoke kit will include a spoke wrench, but to answer your question, yes you'll need a spline drive spoke wrench.
Top 500 Contributor
Over 4 years ago Location: Austin, TX
Yes. You need a spline drive spoke wrench. It kind of wraps around the spoke nipple.

Will these fit my stock crf 450r wheel and hub?
MotoSport Staff

Yes, this rim should fit your stock hub, you will need to run Excel spokes though with this rim.
