Electrosport Regulator/Rectifier Warning

Not as reliable as claimed. I bought one for a VFR800 in the hope it was more consistant and reliable than the OEM part. The original rectifier lasted 13 years, the Electosport unit lasted just 13 months.

So I ordered this on the advice of a friend.

I bought a 1989 Honda VTR250 A few months back. Not only my first bike, but a rare one at that. I came home from work and something was smelling bad and the battery was literally boiling. Buddy told me that it was the R/R.

Not knowing what an "R/R" was, he found this on the web and told me to get it and install it.

I did.

Since doing so I have run an iron butt SS1K and run about 500 miles besides that!

You may have to use a little "persuasion" to install it as I did being that the heat sink makes it a bit larger than the original, but you will NOT regret using this.

Awesome awesome awesome!

Did I mention that as with all of the parts that I have ordered from here, that it got here in a better than timely manner and as always, the communication with Motosport was absolutely superb?

I should have!

Great service

After receiving and installing the rectifier, I had a problem with the wiring match up. I call Motosport and they were more than eager to help. They hooked me up with Electrosport ( the manufacturer) and we resolved the problem over the phone. It was just a matter of moving one wire in the connector. Everyone involved were friendly, professional, and knew their product. I'm rating four stars only because the part wasn't correct right out of the box.

Doesn't fit 79 Honda CB750K?
Ordered this because the site said this would fit my application, but it is a bit larger than the original, and the heat sink fins are spaced differently, so the bracketry holding other vital parts around it will not fit properly. I believe these will only fit on the F model, but for some reason this showed up under my bike. Will I be able to return this even though I attempted to isntall it, but it didn't fit? Thanks

Fried stator or r/r ?
i have recently bought an 05 gsxr600 and the guy said it needed a stator. so i buy the stator and as i am taking the bike apart i notice the connector from the stator to the rectifier is burnt to a crisp. will this r/r resolve the burning issue and would i have to purchase a new wire harness or can i just change the connector ?

Possibly but there could also be other issues in the electrical system. I would recommend following the electrical trouble shooting section in the Suzuki service manual or taking your bike to a certified Suzuki mechanic for proper diagnostics. Suzuki does not sell the connectors separately so you would need to buy the complete harness.

I have replaced the regulator rectifier three times once after I replaced the stator as well any ideas on where I should troubleshoot next?

Electrical can be very tricky. I would recommend taking it to a certified service department and have them trouble shoot it or follow the electrical trouble shooting section in the Yamaha Service manual.

My 1985 V-max has the original R/R and it melted. which one do i need?
When I removed the R/R I noticed that I have 1 red wire and 3 white wires with their own connectors. when I look at the new products I see the 1 red wire but all the white wires are in one connector. How do I know which wire goes where and what one is going to work?

Rectifier problem.?
78 gl1000, i replaced rectifier last year, then it was under charging, after i changed rectifier it would occasionaly over charge battery, but i could run accessory lights to bring voltage down to norm. this year the rectifier burnt yellow wire 2nd from right front view, wich goes to alternator according to wire diagram in manual.the manual says to change the regulator under left pod cover 'gas tank' but i dont see this item listed new anywhere. do you carry this item? or do you know of this issue. i was planning on changing the regulator, the rectifier and condensor. or shooting the bike. any intel would be appreciated.

Tony, the part you are looking for would be a direct OEM part from Honda. Unfortunately we do not have access to pre-1985 models so I'd have to refer you to your local Honda dealer to see if this part is still available to order.

Will this product work with a 1983 Honda Nighthawk 650?
My bike has the original R/R on it and I have a section of the plastic wire connector that is melted. I hope that it is the R/R that is the problem. Even if not, an upgrade after 30 years could not hurt. Thanks

Need a rectifier for my 1970 cb350 twin?
Just rebuilt a honda 350 bobber and im experiencing quirky eletrical drains. It seems that my battery is over charging and drains even when engine has stopped. Im currently setupd on a simple diode system. Research ive done told me to get a rectifier. Hope ou can help me find the right one for my bike's model. Thanks
