Very Durable

Great looking well built skid plate. However, I had to do a little heating and bending, plus use different hardware to get a perfect fit.

Nice skid plate

Works good. Good coverage. Access to oil drain works nicely. Mounting was a bit tricky. Had to drill some new holes. Not a big deal.

The best by far

I've had this skid plate for two years now and if it wasn't for this skid plate I would've had to replace multiple cases from a few crashes. I highly recommend this skid plate if you don't have it get it just the peace of mind riding with this is worth the price nevermind the great protection this has to offer

Great product!

As always devol delivers an amazing product. Used them on other bikes and never let me down. Put this one on a YZ250X and bolted right on.

Great looking, sturdy shield

Glides right across logs when you can't get over them cleanly. Also keeps tons of mud, dirt, rocks off front of engine. Much better than the OEM engine shields and skid plate.

Nice Product

Not super thick and sturdy, but enough for some decent protection. Fit was almost perfect for '06 YZ250F. I had to cut away a bit of the underbody mounting hole to make the bottom bolt line up. That said, the shape is tight to the frame. Nothing obnoxious about it.

It has holes to change your oil with it on... Good luck. It's a huge pain to get the drain plugs back in once you have them out. Easier to just take the skid plate off.

Overall, a nice product if you're looking for some additional protection, but don't want a heavy, bulky skid plate.

Skid Plate

This is a must for all riders who ride often and trail ride, I had a crash and ended up breaking my oil filter cap, if i had not the plate I would have busted my cases for sure.

Fit great, loved the way its held on. Was a little difficult to hold the bars that hold it on and get the screws started but that was about it. It protects really good. Spend the money on this on you wont regret it.

No Go for 09 YZ250F

This review is for this skid plate on an 09 YZ250F:

The plate was easy to install. The metal was WAY too thin for the price. I expect this plate to get damaged quickly, and then I will have to buy another one. Seriously contemplating sending it back to MotoSport and having them send me a different one.

I have a Flatland skidplate on my CRF250X that is at least 3 times the thickness.

Quality Product

The product fit precisely. The attention to detail appears very good. The welds, and the cuts made to the aluminum are precise and clean. I did not find the edges of the cuts to be sharp, or ragged.
The instruction sheet was quite minimalist in it's description, but should not pose a problem if you perform your own installations or are a mechanic.

Very well made!

It has good welding and it only took 10 min. to install.

Devol Skid plate on 2015 KTM 500 EXC

Very nice skid plate with the side protection that I was wanting. I especially liked the slots cut in it for added air flow around the engine cases. This skid plate is built like a battleship, very strong, excellent welds and so easy to install that even Obama could do it......well maybe!

Very Nice

Looks and functions great. There is a hole in bottom to get to oil plug. A bit tricky to install.

Q: Do you have to remove the skid plate to change the oil filter?
Just curious, some of the reviews read that the wings on the side of the skid plate protect the oil filter cover pretty well. Does this mean you have to remove the skid plate overtime that you want to change the oil filter? Thanks!

A: No you would not need to remove the skid plate to replace the oil filter on your 2008 Yamaha YZ250F.

Q: Will this skid plate protect the bottom frame tubes on a 2015 CRF 230f?

Some of the skid plates that I see pictured appear to only cover about half of the length of the bottom frame tubes.

A: I have a CRF405R, but the skid plate mounts to the bike with two flat bars which span the engine side of the frame. One in the front and one in the back of the skid plate. If you put your bike's info in the search drop downs and it comes up as a fit, I'm very confident it will fit your bike.

Q: Is the mounting hardware for a DR-Z400SM direct into the original holes or is it mounted with the brackets that go around the frame?

A: My bike is a CRF450R. I do own a DRZ but that isn't the I installed it on. On the CRF there are 2 thin flat bars which span across the engine side of the frame. One in the front and one in the rear of the plate. The skid plate is attached to those with bolts. Not sure how it attaches to the DRZ, Sorry.

A: The image online may not be the exact skid plate for the 2002 Yamaha YZ250 but yes, the Skid plate for your Yamaha YZ250 would be similar to the style shown in the image.
