No Go for 09 YZ250F

This review is for this skid plate on an 09 YZ250F:

The plate was easy to install. The metal was WAY too thin for the price. I expect this plate to get damaged quickly, and then I will have to buy another one. Seriously contemplating sending it back to MotoSport and having them send me a different one.

I have a Flatland skidplate on my CRF250X that is at least 3 times the thickness.

Quality Product

The product fit precisely. The attention to detail appears very good. The welds, and the cuts made to the aluminum are precise and clean. I did not find the edges of the cuts to be sharp, or ragged.
The instruction sheet was quite minimalist in it's description, but should not pose a problem if you perform your own installations or are a mechanic.

Devol Skid plate on 2015 KTM 500 EXC

Very nice skid plate with the side protection that I was wanting. I especially liked the slots cut in it for added air flow around the engine cases. This skid plate is built like a battleship, very strong, excellent welds and so easy to install that even Obama could do it......well maybe!

Very Nice

Looks and functions great. There is a hole in bottom to get to oil plug. A bit tricky to install.

Peace of mind

Very well made and the fitment is perfect, bought a brand new kx450f and even though I race motocross with it, I still think it's a good idea to get some protection for all that soft aluminum. Every mx bike needs a skid plate.

It looks really good. Absolute pain in the a** to mount though. I can't wait to go ride and test it out.

Better safe than sorry!

These are a must for any rider looking to avoid a broken engine case! These Skid Plates are great. Beautiful craftsmanship and tough as nails. They are also easy to straighten after you have used it. Devol uses good material and the welds are perfect. I gave 4 stars because one of the bolt holes was a little bit off. The plate is Aluminum so a little round file and a few strokes and it fits like a glove.

Do you have to remove the skid plate to change the oil filter?
Just curious, some of the reviews read that the wings on the side of the skid plate protect the oil filter cover pretty well. Does this mean you have to remove the skid plate overtime that you want to change the oil filter? Thanks!

No you would not need to remove the skid plate to replace the oil filter on your 2008 Yamaha YZ250F.

Will this skid plate protect the bottom frame tubes on a 2015 CRF 230f?
Some of the skid plates that I see pictured appear to only cover about half of the length of the bottom frame tubes.

Kx250 and Kx250f both 2005 can fit in same skid plate?

I have a CRF405R, but the skid plate mounts to the bike with two flat bars which span the engine side of the frame. One in the front and one in the back of the skid plate. If you put your bike's info in the search drop downs and it comes up as a fit, I'm very confident it will fit your bike.

Is the mounting hardware for a DR-Z400SM direct into the original holes or is it mounted with the brackets that go around the frame?

My bike is a CRF450R. I do own a DRZ but that isn't the I installed it on. On the CRF there are 2 thin flat bars which span across the engine side of the frame. One in the front and one in the rear of the plate. The skid plate is attached to those with bolts. Not sure how it attaches to the DRZ, Sorry.

The image online may not be the exact skid plate for the 2002 Yamaha YZ250 but yes, the Skid plate for your Yamaha YZ250 would be similar to the style shown in the image.
