Product Description

D.I.D is the number one motorcycle chain in the world. D.I.D chains are used by factory races teams from all manufacturers in race series everywhere.

D.I.D's Pro-Street X-RingŪ VX Series Chains are high quality X-RingŪ chains with superior strength to withstand the horsepower of today's dual sports and trials bikes. The VX Series uses D.I.D's patented low friction X-RingŪ for maximum performance.

  • Greater rigidity (7% higher than previous VM chain) creates smother handling, reduced power loss and quicker response.
  • Highest value in all D.I.D series.
  • D.I.D X-Ring has half the friction and 50 - 100% longer wear life compared to typical O-ring chains.
  • Superior longer life than previous VM series.
  • Solid rollers.
  • Shot-peened parts.
  • Pre-stretched.
  • Extended riveted bushing "Anti-Kink" design.
  • Replaces the Professional O-ring V Series and the Premium X-ring VM series chains.
  • Average tensile strength of 8,210 pounds.
  • Wear life index: 3500.
  • Ideal for bikes and ATV's up to 750cc.
  • Weight (per 100 links): 3.35 pounds.
  • Includes clip-style master link.
  • 120 links.

Half the Power Loss - Compared with Normal O-ring chains, D.I.D's patented X-RingŪ construction reduces friction by twisting between the side plates instead of being squashed. Normal O-rings and other makers' modified O-rings have squashed points that increase friction. The twisting action of the X-RingŪ disperses the pressure and minimizes power loss.

1.5 to 2 Times Longer Wear Resistance - Compared with Normal O-ring chains, the X-Ring's four contact points greatly increase its sealing performance. This keeps the dirt out and the lubrication in much better than any other O-ring. X-RingsŪ have the greatest wear resistance of any other type of O-ring or non-O-ring chain.

Note for installing X-ring chains: As X-ring chains are wider than standard roller chains, when fitting an X-ring chain to a motorcycle that was fitted with a non O-ring chain as original equipment, it is essential to check that there is proper clearance of the engine cases near the countershaft sprocket and any other places of close contact. Failure to do so could result in damage to the chain and motorcycle and could ultimately cause the chain to fail.

D.I.D chains rule.

If you have a 450 or better...spend the extra on a chain that will last and last and last if you treat it like your brother. This D.I.D chain is a beast! Comes prelubed/with master link.

Master link holes too small

This is a nice o-ring chain but as other people have said, the master link doesn't fit. The holes are far too small to fit the master link and I had to drill them out a bit to get them to go over the heads on the link. Other than that it is a solid chain.

Master does not fit

I also had the same issue with the master link not fitting. I have installed 2 of these chains with the same issue on both. I had to drill out the master link plate to the next size. The steel is heat treated making it difficult to drill. I dont know if the holes in the plate were made too small or the pins are "mushroomed'" at the end.

Didn't work

Got the chain, all was good. Had to cut a few links to fit, after I cut it I tried to put the master link together... The side plate wouldn't slide over the pins of the link, not even vise grips could get the plate on. Maybe I just got the wrong master link, idk. Either way I couldn't get it installed.

Great buy

great chain, does its job very well.had it on for a long while now and its seen everything. only thing is gold color faids after alot of sand ridding. but it takes alot of abuse so im sure any chain would do so. (clean and oiled often)

Case rubbing?
Will this chain require a spacer in order to not rub the case on my 2005 CR250?

No, you should be fine running this chain on your 2002 Honda CR250R without running any kind of spacer. The only Honda that would require a spacer for an X-Ring Chain would be the 2002 - 2008 Honda CRF450 models.

I have a 2000 CR250 and ride mainly in the sand, is the VX2 Xring best choice? I planned on pairing it with the Turner steel sprockets?
Also my old chain is non o-ring what do I need to do to fit the larger/wider X-ring on it without rubbing?
Expert MotoSport Staff
4 months 4 days ago
This would be a great chain for you. The X-Rings would help keep the lubrication in chain and keep the sand out of your chain better than your standard roller chain. Also, you should not have to modify anything on that bike to run an X-RIng Chain. If everything is properly installed there should not be an issue with anything rubbing.

Hi! Need replace chain?
standard chain is 520 ZRA / Regina 110/15/45, can I use this one (DID 520 VX2 X-Ring Black Chain - 120 Links) and OEM sprocket? Need replace sprocket also? Thank's.
MotoSport Staff

The DID VX2 would absolutely fit in place of the Regina 520 ZRA. It would also fit just fine with the stock sprocket. The chains do come in bulk length so it will need to be shortened to length but other than that will fit just fine.
