2012 ktm SXF450

The fit of this tank is just OK which is why I rated it just average. The radiator shrows are about 3/4 of an inch away from the radiator at the top after the bolt is reinstalled. The larger capasity of the tank is worth overlooking this small detail for me and is directly related to the shrowds being wider. The tank also comes close to the resonating chamber on the 2012 non factory edition too. The tank gets quite warm just above the exaust but hasn't melted or caused any damage yet.

Good Tank but Very Poor Match to Stock Plastics

The tank installed easily and holds much more fuel than stock. Unfortunately, the color and texture of the tank are different from the stock Kawasaki plastics. The green is several shades off, and the tank has a slightly textured matte finish to it, unlike the stock plastics. I've seen other Acerbis KLX300 tanks that match perfectly, so I'm not sure why mine is so far off color & looks wise. The picture on the Motosport website shows the Acerbis logo in white script, where mine has it in black script. All of the ones I've seen that match the stock plastics had the logo in white, so maybe Acerbis changed something or they vary from batch to batch.

Great tank

Fit good on my 2012 KX450F. Way bigger looking than I expected but I don't even notice it when I'm out on the bike

Good tank at a great price.

This is the third Acerbis tank that I have purchased from Motosport for different motorcycles. All three have seemed to be of good quality. Although the tank is very large, it is narrow at the back and doesn't interfere with the knees or legs. No issues at all with mounting. They have all fit like a glove. Acerbis could have put a little more thought into the location of the right side fuel petcock. It comes very close to the header so caution has to be used to make sure the fuel line is routed and zip tied to keep it up high and away from the exhaust. Also good to run the fuel line through a heat shield sleeve for added protection from the heat of the header. Had an issue with a mount for a tank I purchased last year. A rep at Motosport was very helpful in making sure everything was right and that I was satisfied. I gave the tank a good rating based only on the location of the fuel petcock. Make sure the line is protected, fill er up and enjoy many miles of smiles without having to be concerned about running out of fuel.

Does what it is supposed to... 2012 KX450F

the tank fits really well and the over feel of the bike didn't change much. the shrouds and the seat went on really well. it didn't leak at all and it holds a lot of fuel. it looks really cool too. ONE PROBLEM!!!! If you are running a steering stabilizer make sure that the tank will work with the bracket. for the 2012 KX, you cant run the Steering stabilizer and this tank at the same time. I was really bummed but I decided to be safe and have to stop for fuel during races.

Good purchase

Fit perfect on my 08 KTM 250 xcf-w. Does not work with after market radiators, stock radiators only! Nice to see gas in tank natural color, stock tank is black. Also installed acerbis petcock valve, went on reserve @ 45 miles with what looks like 1 gal left. Stock tank went on reserve same mileage with 1/2 gal left. Very satisfied with purchase.

Replaced leaky stock tank on 2001 KLX300R

This is a good bit larger than stock- three advantages: (1) don't need to refuel as often; (2) "wings" on tank act as guards for the radiators providing additional protection. (3) Can see fuel level through plastic tank. Green is a good color match to OEM.

2008 WR450F

I really like the tank but the gas cap in a peace of junk. It is the Acerbic quick fill cab. The cab is heavy and lets dirt into the tank if you use the quick fill. You can replace the cap for about $12 so overall; even with the price of the new gas cap, it is a good deal. Now I have the range to explore up to 90 miles. With the stock tank I was going on reserve at 50 miles.

Aftermarket gas tank

Greetings, Sharing the experience of the purchase and mounting of my Acerbis 3.2gal tank on my -03 YZ250. The purchase: 1) I ordered this tank for my -03 YZ250. I received a tank for a -05. This created concerns. After a call to tech, they assured me I was in good shape. I have had "good" luck with MotoSport in the past. Fit: 1) The tank slipped right into position. 2) The seat screw didn't go deep enough into the tank, sticking up too high. I put on a shorter screw. 3) I opted for the 2ea. pet cock set up, and the kick starter hit the on/off lever. (pic 036) I'm welding on a stop to the kick start so it doesn't hit. 4) The original pet cock does not fit the tank (maybe because it is the wrong year). I had to buy a second Acerbis pet cock (not expensive). 5) The original carb hose no longer fit. I made some changes. (pic 58) 6) If you are a crafty person, this tank can be just fine after some fine tuning of the fit up. But it is not plug and play. I would post more pics, but site is limiting. Assuming the tank doesn't start leaking and pet cocks don't wear out fast...this product will serve it's purpose well. No more pushing home. R_1Buzz

From what I can tell you are correct, Acerbis does not offer this tank for the 2001 Yamaha YZ426F anymore . But we do still have left over stock of the tanks that they previously made for that bike. So yes, we do have this tank available that will fit your 2001 Yamaha YZ426F.

What is the Acerbis part number for this item?
Expert MotoSport Staff
1 month 25 days ago Location: Portland, OR, USA
The part number from Acerbis for this tank would vary depending on what Make/Year/Model motorcycle you would need the tank for. I would need to know what specific bike you have to find out what the part number is for that tank.

This Acerbis Gas Tank would not be made to fit the Honda CRF230F. The only option I can find that we would sell would be the OEM tank from Honda. You have find the OEM tank and all the other OEM diagrams for your bike here: http://www.motosport.com/dirtbike/oem-parts/HONDA/2014/CRF230F/FUEL-TANK

What is new? Has the leaking MDR cap been replaced?
Expert MotoSport Staff
2 months 23 days ago Location: Portland, OR, USA
I have not heard of the leaking issue with the MDR cap so I contacted Acerbis directly on this. Here is their response: "The MDR cap has not been replaced. The MDR cap can be switched to a standard large gas cap. Also, if they are looking for a dry brake system, other than the MDR cap, IMS’s dry brake system is compatible with all of our tanks that come with the MDR adapter." -Adam, Acerbis USA

Do the stock shrouds fit on this tank for an 07 yz450f?
MotoSport Staff Expert
3 months 4 days ago Location: Portland, OR, USA
Actually on the 3.3 gallon tank for your 2007 Yamaha YZ450F the radiator shrouds are integrated into the tank so it would eliminate the use of the OEM Radiator Shrouds.

So this Acerbis Gas Tank 3.3 Gallons - Blue will work on 03 wr250f without changing shrouds and/or seats?
Expert MotoSport Staff
3 months 4 days ago Location: Portland, OR, USA
You would not need to change the seat on your 2003 Yamaha WR250F to run this tank but it does eliminate the OEM radiator shrouds as they are integrated into this fuel tank like shown in the image online.

Does this fit a steel-framed 2004 Yamaha WR450F (not aluminium-framed)?
Dear Sir/Madame! I'd like to ask if this tank (Acerbis Gas Tank 3.3 Gallons - Natural) would fit a 2004 Yamaha WR450F, steelframed (see picture attached). The new aluminium frame differs from the older, steel framed model but I did not see this difference in the pictures. If the fuel tank fits the 2004 Yamaha WR450F steelframed, so I will order the product at a later time to Hungary. I would first like to have more precise product information. Thank you very much in advance! Best regards, Demeter Bereczki

Yes, Acerbis does make this tank for your 2004 Yamaha WR450F. The image on the web may not represent the tank for your specific model (images are generic). As long as you have the correct Year/Make/Model selected as the "Ride You Are Shopping For" the tank will be the exact replacement for your bike. **The actually tank for your bike would look similar to the attached image.

Does this tank actually have the alloy filler neck?
In the photo it does, but I have also seen this tank with a molded plastic filler neck. I want the alloy neck for durability reasons. 2008 KLX450R Thanks for your help!
