Yes, the grips can be modified to accept hand guards without doing harm to the internal heating element. There are two ways to accomplish this.
1. You may enlarge a hole at the end of the grip. Using a Dremel type hand grinder or a drill, create or enlarge the hole at the end of the grip to match the inside diameter of the handlebar. This will allow you to put the expanding insert from the handguard through the end of the grip and into the handlebar.
2. A second option would be to cut the end of the grip off. This can be done using a sharp knife or fine toothed saw. On the ATV Tri grip locate the position where the end cap of the grip tapers down to the grip body located 3/8 inch from the end of the grip. Cutting the grip at this point will not harm the heating element and will allow the handlebar to extend through the grip. DO NOT cut the end off beyond the 3/8 inch mark or damage to the heating element could occur.
These solutions should allow the mounting of wrap around style handguards.
