Trail 660

Very thick and seems fairly well made, BUT! you will have to modify it for a raptor 660. That was a pain in the butt! I don't mind modding stuff but if you do don't buy!

Just OK

Unit seems to fit poorly onto the swing arm mounting points, had to use long bolts to pull skid plate mounts over to the swing arm mounting points more than 1/4 inch! was and still am somewhat afraid the swing tabs may break off. Have not used the quad since installed.

fitment is great. as with most AC products, the welds are rough and edges can be sharp. But looks after 1 ride doesnt matter on a skid plate.

price is right. edges are round and welds are as pictured. but sturdy and comes with mounting hardware. fits was perfect.

Good Skid plate

put it on my 2014 yfz450r and it fit no drilling or further fab needed.
took it out on the trail and bent both plates into chain and brake rotor.
easy fix on the trail just bend it back but may need further fab work on the structural aspect.

Not impressed

I purchased this plate in hopes that it would protect the rear swing arm of my LTR450. When came in I went out in my garage to install it but found out that it does not fit AT ALL!!! Its pushes against the disc of my breaks and still needs to be sucked in a half an inch to be tight. is taking good care of me though and although I would not recommend this product to some one who has a LTR450, I do however recommend it to someone with a different ride. The product looks and feels very strong!! The rivets could have been counter sunk so they dont ride against the chain too. Bottom line, if it had fit I would be stoked!

Wouldn't buy it!!!

First off I had to drill the holes out bigger because it wouldn't match up with my swingarm. Second I had to cut around five inches off of the chain and sprocket side because the chain was hitting the front of the skid plate(my chain is properly tightened). So after about a hour or so of cutting, grinding, and drilling it turned out pretty nice. In my opinion when you pay that much money for a part that is supposed to be a custom fit it should FIT!!!! Go pro armor!!!!

Good protection, but low quality

Like most of the other people that installed this skid, mine would not line up with the mounting holes.I had to enlarge all four holes some then pry it into place. The protection is very good, but the chain makes a ton of noise slapping on the lower edge of the skid and the rivits that hold the chain guide strip in place. Adjusted my chain as tight as i could safely go, but it still slaps. I'm a little dissapointed, but at least my rotor and sproket are safe.

Great Buy!

This is a stout and light protection plate for your rotor, chain, and brake disk. I painted mine black. I roughed it with sander, coated grey primer, then spray painted it glossy black. One problem though, one of the pre-drilled holes didn't line up with stock drilled (06 yfz 700) holes in chassis. I had to shave the edge of hole with a drill bit to line it up. With that, it could have cost 25 bucks less...

This is a nice solid skid and the welds were very penetrated. The only things is that when you get it, you will probably have to do some grinding and/or hole enlargement. The wear strip will have to probably be moved too so it will line up with the chain. The skid I received was welded on an angle, so who ever does that, not very skilled or just simply don't care what the end product looks like when he is done welding. After you spend a few hours on it, including painting, it came out really nice for me. I think the price should be 30% lower for all the extra work that has to be done on it. That's my take. Aloha

Poor mounting hole alignment !!

Skid plates are an important add-on, and this unit is heavy gauge enough to provide adequate protection for most trail riders.

What should be a relatively simple installation was complicated by poor quality control of mounting hole locations. I returned the unit to Motosport for credit.

Two of the four mounting holes were significantly misaligned to the swingarm mount points. This means that holes in the skidplate were not positioned properly. I am perfectly willing to perform a little rework (ie enlarge a hole a few thousandths) to mount relatively low production metal fab parts like these, but the misaligned holes would have needed to be enlarged in the direction of the mount point by approx. 1/4" on my unit.

Always willing to give another chance, this was the second AC Racing part I purchased for the same ATV over a short period of time. The first was the cooler rack, which also required rework, though not as much as the skidplate. I installed the cooler rack, but decided that I had enough of AC Racing part quality the second time around. I'm done.

A simple final QC inspection at the factory would catch these problems. I don't know if this is typical of AC Racing quality control, or if retailers are simply recycling problem returns to the next unfortunate customer. I know business is soft, but defective returns should be scrapped.

I am an experienced manufacturing executive who has managed $60M to $80M businesses with significant sheet metal fabrication operations. These types of quality control problems are very easy to correct .....

Very nice

very nice product. aluminum is much thicker compared to other skid plates and the welds are much nicer. easy to install, the mounting holes were slightly off, probably due to welding. looks great.

light weight and very reliable i lov this withh all of my heart<3

Not that great

I bought this for my 06 Z400 and i bought it because i hear a lot of good stuff about AC and i have a lot of their parts on my quad, but this peticualr skid plate sucks, when i first got it it was tweaked thinkin it was a bad one i sent it back for a new one when i got it it was tweaked too so i put it on the first rock i hit with it it toataly crumpled and all my other friends have this problem with their AC plates too we dont even hit that large of rocks so i will not buy this again i will go with pro armor

Sweet skidplate

This plate is an awesome purchase, It's pretty rocky on alot of the trails I ride and the plate stands up to alot of abuse without showing any wear. Would deffinately reccomend to anyone looking for a swingarm plate

Q: Shaft?

will this work on a ltz250's shaft drive instead of a chain?

A: If you have an 04-09 LTZ250 Quad Sport Z250 shaft driven, than this swingarm skid plate will fit.

Q: How come this is made to bolt on the inside, where as the OEM is bolted on the outside of the swing arm?
Swing arm metal hits the plate and the holes don't line up if bolted on the inside for the blaster and also the outside bolt hole metal is 1/4" off too sloppy. Is this really for the Blaster? The wear strip is way off too.

A: This will only mount on a stock OEM swingarm. You might contact the mfg of the swingarm you have to see if they offer a swingarm protector to fit.

A: This plate covers the drive components on the swing arm. Other than that I don't have one that will cover the entire swing arm.
