A: It sounds like something came apart inside, whether the clutch spring bolts, the basket or possibly even the primary drive gear came loose it would be very hard to say without actually pulling the clutch cover off and inspecting it. More than likely one of the bolts came loose, backed out and poked a hole in the cover. If you are not comfortable removing the cover and inspecting the clutch, I would recommend taking it to your local dealer for a full diagnosis of the problem.
