2009 CRF450R

Rekluse Z start pro, I would recommend this product to a rider who doesn't ride motocross (well B class or higher. if your new C class and blow rider this is a good clutch to learn on a motocross track), this set up doesn't allow you to feather the clutch, or slip the clutch, its strictly Auto clutch. yes you can pull the clutch lever all the way in once it hits your grip you can rev it in gear, but when your going fast into a deep sand turn your cant feather the clutch to get RPMs back up to pull out of the turn, its like driving a tractor in away. also at higher RPM the clutch lever free play is different thats why you have to so much free play at idle rpm to allow expansion.
down shifting on a motocross track is hard, you have to down shift early into turns to keep the RPMs up, and you have to be patient while down shifting. you gain more engine braking this way. can be good or bad, depends on soil. some corners i felt faster in, but most felt slower, you have to have good throttle control/ or have good roll on power since you cant feather the clutch for more power. having a 450 is not a big problem but if i was on a 250f i would give this a 3 star.
i took advantage of the 30 day demo ride in hopes of keeping the clutch. but I returned it. I race motocross, hare scrambles, and gnarly trails with ton of rocks and very steep hills, the z start pro was amazing in the trails and hare scramble race. i raced my first hare scramble race at Portland trail riders in Michigan in the 2hr B class and placed 3rd. without this clutch i would have been mid pack but with out being able feather the clutch was a deal beaker i lost alot of time in sandy turns. i purchased the rekluse exp core full kit. hopefully i wil like that much better because it says you retain your stock clutch lever feel

hope i explained that ok. if your a beginner rider. and just want to twist n go, this rekluse z start pro is for you.
thanks for reading my review

A Reluse in my Honda trx 450 is huge advantage

I have been rubbing the z start for the past 5 years and would never race without it. The ability to not stall or have to be worried about pulling in the clutch when you slam on your rear brakes makes it worth every $ spent. Low maintenance and easy enough to change out the plates.

Don't be reckless get a Rekluse

I bought a used bike with this product installed already. I was thinking it wasn't a hard corp MX product. I was wrong you can ride faster and in more control with a Rekluse Clutch! Works just like a regular clutch when you want it to for doing wheelies and other things. I will upgrade all of my future bike to Rekluse!

Amazing Product!

Resisted getting one for years, finally gave in after my riding buddies kept bragging the benefits. Wish I had bought one sooner, amazing benefits, especially on my CR500af, makes it even more fun to ride, it really is like cheating. Cornering is amazing, increased traction control, reduced arm pump, less to think about while racing, and oh yeah, it WON'T stall! A very cool addition to a bike I already loved. It's like having a super powerful, better handling, larger KLX110. But, you can shift with, or without clutch. Haven't had it for too long yet, but if the quality of construction is any indication of durability, it should operate for many trouble free hours.

Made me finally like my CRF450X.

If I would have bought this first would not have needed pipe and flywheel while trying to keep my bike from stalling all the time.

Rekluse - Well worth the price!

I got this for my son on his CRF150R. He just moved up to this bike and had trouble with the stock clutch pull - couldn't finish a 90 min hare scramble. He absolutely loved it, use the clutch lever to feather it for more power if needed, or just downshift and twist the throttle. No more clutch arm fatigue at all. IMPORTANT NOTE: if installing on crf150r, make sure you include the needle bearing and stock washer on the throwout rod, then the Rekluse spacer washer and spring. The directions weren't clear on that - the rest of the install was a breeze.

Rekluse clutch

I put this on my wifes CRF150R and has made trail riding very enjoyable for her. It was really easy to install. Make sure you buy a side cover gasket if your working on a CRF150R. I was pretty careful taking off the side cover and still ripped it.

Must Have

This is my second bike with a Rekluse Z-Start Pro, and it is moto magic. Tight woods, grass track, MX Tracks... In all cases, I can ride longer with less fatigue using the Z-Start Pro. No corner stalls, no missed neutral shifts, waaaaaaayyyy less arm-pump in constant standing / sitting corner sections. Perfect clutch feathering, every time.

Worth every penny

I can keep my hand on the bars or a quick pull on my goggles cord without worrying about pulling in that darn clutch. I could still pull it in, but love the clutch at Little Nestucca and I'm sure I'll love the bike at Eddieville next weekend.

A: Absolutly not. You will not be able to push start your bike. But the performance of the clutch far outweighs the "occational "extra effort to start.

A: No clutch basket for the Z-start pro, and you will have to order new, or re-use your existing clutch plates. The friction plates will come in the kit. (needed for correct spacing). Some of the other Recuse clitch kits come with a new clutch basket, if thats what your after.

A: No cover or friction plates both needed if you have time on clutch fibers would buy new. You don't really need the cover as they ship thicker gasket but after install and see if you enjoy the clutch I imediatley ordered cover.

A: The Z-start pro comes with all the mechanical parts needed, but does not contain a new cover. One of the other, more expensive Recluse kits does come with a cover. But they all have their own functions, so if your after the "auto clutch" I suggest you simply purchase it, and purchase the cover as well.

Q: What`s diference about this one and the core 2.0 exp kit?

Hello,my bike is a yamaha wr 250f 2008 and i`d like to know more about the diference of this one and the other rekluse core 2.0 exp? Thanks.

A: We went ahead and asked Rekluse about this to get the best answer for you. Here are the main differences between the two clutches. The big difference between the Z-Start and 2.0 products is clutch control. The earlier product uses a pressure plate where the balls ramp out and has no pressure plate springs, so trying to override the clutch is more on or off. The 2.0 uses pressure plate springs and an expandable friction so clutch modulation feels pretty close to stock. The automatic part of both is pretty similar as they are both centrifugal.
